dog food protein vs fat

what causes a dog to get hot around the tree?feeding a 22/12 dogfood(diamond) and the dog is still overheating.does anyone hunt dogs on a lower prot/fat feed like a 18/8 and can they keep up or do they run out of gas.

Overheating comes from hot weather and being out of shape.

I feed the burgandy bag at 26/20,and don't notice over heating.I don't let the dogs get fat though, and hunt them 4 nights a week.

I don't believe feed makes a dog overheat. I'm sure some would disagree.

we have a dog that gets so hot he can't even bark treed. he's in good shape. when he walks you can see his musceles roll under his hide. i asked on here a while back what would cause him to get so hot and a lot of people said high protein dog feed. we are feeding black gold in the black bag 26/18 a couple days ago we switched to the yellow bag to see if it made a diffrence. i guess i'll find out in a couple weeks.

Hot Spots?

I heard that a dog can get "hot spots",where their fur falls out in places from feeding a dog food with too much protein. Is this true?

Try this

I try to feed a lamb and rice when it get's hot.I have been told that rice is a cooler fuel then the corn in most dog foods. It seem's to work pretty good.
