Garmin collar but no dog..

Was hunting my two pups the other night and my male was having a hard time working a track. I wasn't real familiar with the area I was hunting so I tried to keep within 300 yards of him. Any how, he shut up, so I walked to the top of the hill to see if I could find him. Finally pulled out the garmin and it said that he was 20 some yards out ahead of me. Then I heard him strike again back behind me. I figured his collar had fallen off and proceeded to walk into the thickest corn field that I've ever seen. After about 15 or 20 minutes of searching, I finally seen my tracker light flashing. Ended up finding both dogs not far from the truck treed. Found my female missing the tracker light that was on her collar. I always check my equipment before I cut the dogs to make sure that this doesn't happen. Now I'm racking my brain trying to think of a remedy so that this never happens again. It was almost a very expensive night.

You could take it to a booth at the hunts and have them sew some reflective material onto the collar. If they slip it it will be easier to find. If they cross the road cars can see them better its a win, win. I can say this from experience don't put it on so tight they can't slip it I lost a nice lil 2 year old gyp a few years back because I had the collars to tight and she Hung herself. I like to be able to pull it over their ears with slight resistance the collar is much cheaper than the dog.
