I'll tell ya what. Ol david is a lucky feller today. I thought about going over there and seeing the chicken crap son of a gun. My dogs hardly ever bark cept at feeding time.. We have 220ac. He probably has 1/4ac.. Im going over there and put up a sign. Dear neigbors. If youd keep your freaking dogs in a pen. Mine wouldnt bark at them when they come visit. Plus this is your warning!! Sounds like you need to spread a little hog manure or chicken litter down your closest fence line them. Maybe put up a temporary hog pen next to the property line.
You could always get a couple cases of clay pigeons and shoot a little skeet. It just sounds like you have not properly conditioned your neighbors. Catch their mutt in your yard and take turpentine and a corn cob to his hiney and he'll never come back in your yard again.

Oh don't yall worry. We've had move ins complain about putting chicken litter on pastures..I think a coon pen is in order here. Big dog pen actually maybe 4 ac. Then I can start pups in it. I wonder what kind of permits you have to get for a big dog pen? The law already told me. Nothing the move ins can do if I was hunting.

I guess I am one of those smart elic neighbors. My neighbor had a dog that would bark 2-4 hours straight when he got started. I always called him about it though. It usually started aroung 2AM.
He swore up and down that his did not bark unless he saw something but I never called unless the dog had been barking at least an hour.
Most people unless they are psycho, are not going to put a bark collar on your mailbox unless they have good reason. Are they psycho? Those things cost money but they should have presented it to you personally. If I were you, I would discuss the problem and if they articulated the problem well, I would thank them for the bark collar and start using it!
How can you be certain the dog is not barking while you are away. The fact they are renters does not negate the idea that your neighbors should be able to lead a peaceful life as it relates to barking dogs.
This subject is near and dear to me because I have lived it! My neighbor with the idiot barker had all the same excuses and reasons. He must medicate heavily to have not got woke up by his dog!

Video cams/trail cams make it certain! If I owned the place I'm living at he would catch hell they would be barking 24/7 don't bother me I can sleep right thru it but alas I just put the collars on and go on......

If your county has a noise ordinance, I am sure a couple $50 fines would motivate you to put the bark collars back on!

Dark to daylight yardlights on power poles bother me more than barking dogs. My neighbor 200 yards away had one till the powercompany got tired of replacing it. They did notice that the bullet hole always came from the same direction. Why don't they put a switch on them to cut on when you're plundering around in the yard and cut off so as not to bother your neighbor wanting to sit on his porch and enjoy the dark?

My neighbor complained about my dogs barking.. All they were barking at his dogs running through my yard so I put 2 tandem dump truck loads of chicken $hit along the property line.. He came a few days later saying he was sorry and begged me never to do that again..

My neighbors have a pot bellied pig that just roams free and keeps coming in my yard. Ive got a retired hog dog chained up in the yard and stupid pig walks right up next to him. But you know it will be MY fault when he catches that pig. Ive already told them what will happen if the pig gets close enough.

Posted by intellectualist on 10-14-2011 01:49 AM:

The things you guys are describing like the pig, or the neighbor's dog running through your yard is very different than just having a neighbor's dog that perpetually barks. I think any dog, at least if it is normal, would bark at the things you guys are describing!
Ever notice how a coonhunter on this forum who is aggravated with a neighbor complaining about their dog barking is NEVER in the wrong? Their coondog is always the most well behaved dog ever born and would never dream of barking unless it had a valid reason to do so. Also, there is no way the dog would ever bark if the owner was not at home to hear it. That is out of the question.
My dogs are generally pretty peaceful because I will not tolerate the barking because I can't stand it and I have more respect for my neighbors. However, as peaceful as my dogs are, there are times when one or both will want to bark some for whatever reason and I will not sit here and tell you otherwise. My older dog hates wind and that causes him to bark. My young dog gets restless after a few days of not being hunted and that makes him bark. You can rest assured, if hollering does not fix the problem, and it sometimes does, the tritronics is getting strapped to them and turned on high!

Dogs do not generally bother me but if you had your preteen child woke up in the middle of a school night to come to you and complain about the neighbor's dog waking them up on two separate occasions in one week you would find street lights taking a back seat to this problem.

I like the British approach to those who continually complained about fighter jet fly overs on approaches to military ranges. If a person calls and complains they increase the number to fly overs dramatically to acclimate the person to the noise.
It's amazing how some of the city/suburbanites move to the country and whine and complain about dogs barking, odor from chicken houses, dairy farms, hog farms, etc. If they do not like the noise, they either need to buy more acreage or move back to suburbia. Thank goodness I live in an area where true generational farmers live. My dogs only bark when they are getting fed or a strange car or dog comes down the drive. If it is not a hound or a neighbors dog or have a means to identify the animal, the problem is solved very quickly.
We have permission to hunt all the neighbors and some like to sit out on the porch and listen to a good race.
The guy is a weasel and a coward for handling the situation in the manner he did, more than likely a transplant, not raised in a rural area.

I have lived out in the country, at the same place now, for 41 years, so not everyone is transplants from the city. Not to mention I was there well before my neighbor moved in!

This makes me think of the idiots that moved in from the big city. They called the police on the farmers bull because he was making too much noise.

He was doing his job as a bull, but it happened to be at night.

Our Sherrif told him the only thing he knew to fix the problem would be for them to move back to where they came from.

LOL.

Me I can't stand a barking dog. I love to hunt but it just drives me crazy to have a barking dog around the house. Can't sleep a lick for it so mine know the rules
