..don't live down there, but hunt the Altamaha River swamp every winter near Brunswick/Everett City............

.

What City do you live in. I know a few around Starke, a few around Palatka and like Rance posted he is from Jacksonville. A little South around Edgewater there are several and a few around Ocala.
Few years ago when I was a little more excited about hunting I use to travel to S. GA quite a lot and there are many good guys up in that area.
I hunt several locations in NE FL but mostly by myself.

I spent a couple weeks in the Waycross/ Valdosta area back in June. I was there working on the Honey Prairie fire. You guys are nuts to even live there let alone hunt there. I learned a new kind of HOT down there.

LOL Yeah I hunt about 10 miles from where the fires were. It can be tough, especially during the summer.

Bruce - I live in Jacksonville, but I spend as littletime as possible here. Usually Im messin around Callahan , Hilliard, or Saint George.

Rance - If you ever want someone to hunt with let me know. Im new to coon hunting and wouldnt mind learning something. Ill probably hunt Osceola this year but next year Im gonna find another club.

Forest - You guys are awesome. I have spent alot of time in the Okefenokee since I was little fishing and stuff. I hated seeing that thing burn. I know you guys worked your tails off getting that fire under control. Thanks.

Hey Scott, I go to Jax every Christmas and stay sometimes for a couple months. I was stationed there for 14 years on the west side. Normandy Blvd. I hunted petersons pasture. Jea owns it now! Give me a hollor, 304 663-3911

Thats cool Big Dog. You were stationed at Cecil Field? I grew up about 20 minutes from there in Bryceville. Do you bring dogs when you come to Jax?

One of my Greatuncles once sald "if your going to be a man, be a hell of a man"!!!!! People who hunt South Ga. Regular, are tough.

The Okefenokee, where you were FireFighting is my play-ground. I have been a Volunteer worker since the 80's. and a certified Guide since the 90's and a Canoe Camper since the 70's. I have Deer, Bear and Coon hunted the outside area ever since I came out of the Army in 1952.

You FireFighters are well trained!!! So keep up the good work!!!

Good post Plott 55!

Yes Scott, Cecil Field is my second home! I have 1 bluetick Gyp I had there last year and Lord willing will be back in a couple weeks. I wanna stay for a couple months, I may have to run my mom back up here or buy her a flight back! I love hunting North Florida! After hunting these straight up and down mnts, I love flat land! Even if it is a jungle!!!!

Paul

P.S. I know where Bryceville is, hunted out there a few times!

I hunt down in Butler, GA and Abbeville, GA. To what the fella said above you if you gonna be dumb you gotta be tuff! I beat my way, crawl, climb over, get ripped to pieces going through those nasty swamps about once a year. To tell y'all the truth the only reason I do it is to visit old friends but if you are from the North and you wanna know what kinda hound your feeding take em to the south because it takes a real coondog to tree them ringtails in whitewater swamp!

Posted by bigdog061 on 12-07-2012 03:12 PM:

Maybe I really am dumb, but no lie y'all, last night we were hunting a place with 20-100 ft high walls and straight up and down mountains. I once almost fell off a highwall, so I don't like them anymore!

If you have heard of the New river Gorge bridge in Feyetteville Wv or been in this area, well thats my stomping grounds!!!! I have no problem with hunting Florida except if I have to swim to the dogs!!! Now thats just crazy!!!! Good hunting fellows!

Paul

Didn't mean it like anyone was dumb. Just a saying we use at work all the time when we are doing something really hard. I think those swamps are hard to hunt but I do it anyways. Just thought I would clarify my meaning.

Bigdog- I have family in Ohio and when I drive up to visit we go right past New River Gorge. I was telling my hunting buddy the other night that I would like to hunt those mountains, but I would have to get my chubby butt on a treadmill first. Ive been on this flat ground all of my life. We need to go hunting while your down here. I dont have the greatest dog or the worlds best spot but we do tree coons and have fun.

Plott55- Im going to have to borrow that saying. I like it better.

Ray&Luie- Iused to run deer dogs Appalachicola forest over around Sumatra and Tates hell. You right that place is huge and I havent seen a fraction of it. But I sure do like it over there. I almost moved out there one time.

Posted by bigdog061 on 12-08-2012 07:34 AM:

Scott, your welcome to come hear and hunt! This Gyp of mine makes me happy, but she ain't no world beater! We will def hunt if ya want to! All I ask is not too close to roads.

s martin, no problem at all! Ya gotta be a little crazy and tough to chase dogs anywhere and everywhere at night! LOL!

Hollor at me if ya want. 304-663-3911
