Hounds hunting style question

You know how you hear about a line of hounds that are hard huntin blow through the country type dogs or a line that is weak close huntin style of hound.Do you think hunting style is an inherited trait or a result of the way a dog is handled and trained.thanks

INHERITED TRAIT.. THATS WHY WE ALL DONT HUNT THE SAME LINE OF DOGS. WE FIND A STRAIN WE LIKE AND WE STICK WITH IT. YOU CANT TRAIN A DOG TO HUNT NOR MAKE A DOG HUNT. GOT TO BE BRED IN HIM!

its inherited...if they have the go you can enhance it a little by doing things and you can take a lot of it out.... but i dont know anyway to make a dog hunt

you can't teach a dog to run head up or nose on the ground it's in there blood you can do a lot on close or get gone or independent or pack dogs imo

Its a Trait thats Up Close .. But Nearly every pup in a litter will be different but 1 or 2 will show the Same Hunting traits as the Sire or Dam ..

Seen it many times in our breedings .. Had a English Female that we bred to .. She had a very different Style and was Dead Accrate but was also a Pain in the Butt to Hunt with ..

She was dead Silent unless she had one Hot on the Ground, She would just Drift thru the Woods Checking trees and when she found him She could blow the top out for Hours ...

Well out of that litter One pup had the Exact same Hunting Style, just Checking trees .. Two other pups had sim. traits "Checking Trees" but were also open running on track and the rest of the pups fell towards the Sire's Style of Open strike, track and treeing ..

A hard going deep hunting dog is Definetly bred in them. as said above, you can tweek them to slow down or go a little deeper.

Well.. I've had a pup outta a couple hard going dogs. Son of a gun would not go over 200. I whipped and waited till she was 2.5. Why didn't she inherite the go power? Also I was never able to put it there and I tried it all.

The way a hound is trained/handled will only enhance or impede it's inherited traits. In this case hunting style .... be it wide or close. So handle with care!
