Big wallet, small brain.

I can see it now... 4 years from now nobody will breed to your stud dog if it's not HTX100.

Well Brainiac, it takes a minimum of 30 hunt tests to get HTX10 so if I have to explain it in further detail then I ain't the one with the small brain.

DUHHH! Glad you read up on it! Just exactly what was the HTX hunts geared towards? Maybe you remember that? Why does that pertain to money? Is it your wallet? Is Vallen Nelson barrowing the money from you to compete in them? Maybe your just jealous?

Either way really none of your business the way I see it. Some spend their time typin bout huntin & some, beleive it or not, actually do it....

OK Brainiac, at least you understand it now. It's getting dark here and my kids already have their lights and boots on so I gotta go... oh wait, that's right I don't hunt according to you. LMAO.

Its a test to see if your dog can tree coon by itself. If you need to prove to the dog world that your dog can tree a coon, I would really look at what you had been hunting in the past few years. A dog treeing a coon by itself doesnt deem it worthy of a title imo... a dog doing what its bred to shouldn't be celebrated, it should be common. Put the dog out there with competition and if he excels, then celebrate.

I agree that a dog should have to beat others to get a title but yet I also like the HTX titles because there are quite a few night hunt titled dogs that can't tree a coon by themselves, also known as "piggy backers" and "me tooers"

I don't exactly understand the need or want for more than just an HTX title (HTX-2 or more) but it is their money and if they want to spend it on HTX titles, who are we to tell them that they shouldn't?

YEAH RIGHT!!!! How about the 4 walker dogs that got eliminated last night from the finals because they couldn't get a coon treed by themselves......LMAO
Wonder how many good dogs along the way to Thursday night got put out by MEE TOOERS?

I didn't say anything about the money aspect. Its true that it is their money and they can do with it what they please.

There will always be me too dogs etc... its part of it. That's why you work and strive for hounds that can compete at the top levels of competition. How many me too dogs do you think are left at the world finals? I would venture to say next to none. They might win locally but they get weeded out quickly with real competition.

They might win a cast here and there but if you are packing a coondog and don't lose the cast for the dog you are going to be the victor the vast majority of the time.

Posted by Sammy Garmon on 09-24-2011 12:41 AM:

At our hunt the htx are done by older guys, who don't want to slow a cast down they really enjoy it. So does the young started hunter who wanting to get the feel of having to call a dog. That the way its been so far anyway. My dad is 70 he enjoys them so he hunts ours in them, plus some young boys just getting started

very true, I wasn't trying to imply that you were talking about the money aspect, I was just stating that if someone wants to spend money to get a title on their dog it isn't really anyone else's business how much they spend... that also goes for the "me too" dogs, if someone wants to spend the $10 - $20 a hunt and pray that the other dog makes a mistake and their dog doesn't back them, who am I to tell them not to? someone has to donate the money to the clubs lol

a dog that won't go hunting and tree a coon without company doesn't stay at my house. HTX proves your dog is capable of that to everyone. It's not as easy as you think to make an HTX champion, the dog is allowed 2 faults in an hour, if he gets them, he fails. And seeing a coon is harder than you think it is. We hold them at our local club and while we have had dogs to pass and get the title, we have had just as many to fail.

The ones that did tree their own coon pretty much passed a HTX test last night.....I think it should be a requirement of every dog before they are awarded their NtChampion title. Just My Opinion

The comment of "Big wallet, small brain" reeks of the ugly J word = J-E-A-L-O-U-S-Y......what does it matter to what he pays and compete his hounds in?

Because he competes and titles his dog in more events than you, he has a small brain???????????

Having to participate in comp hunts to prove you have a dog is a the words of someone with an self-confidence issue.

We pleasure hunt with a young man that is a single father, really struggles to make ends meet. His job demands he is on call all the time.
He does not have the time or the money to participate in hunts, the one he did participate in, he got royally screwed by two buddies on the same cast.
I can tell you he's not afraid to unsnap a leash with anyone's dogs, he has got two of the nicest hounds I've seen in 35 years of being involved in the sport. His dogs don't have a single title but I watched him send a titled Walker to the house Monday night, three coons to zero. He is in the woods every night we can take him.
HTX would be a good way for this young man to get a little recognition for all the hard work and dedication he puts into his dogs.

I can assure there is no jealousy. Like usual, all you rocket scientists missed my point. I have no problem with the HTX hunts. In fact, I think they were long over due. The big question is how many times do you need to prove your dog can tree a coon? Do you really need to do it THIRTY TIMES? I mean, REALLY? They're supposed to be COONDOGS. I know all the bla, bla, bla about "me too dogs", I've seen more than my share of them. But the question is: Is a HTX10 dog more capable of treeing coon than a HTX3 dog?
Hey, I agree that if that's your thing then knock yourself out - drive all over the state and prove once again your dog can tree a coon. Keep racking up HTX numbers. My only point is after HTX3 it's pointless. If my dogs can't tree their own coon they don't live here.

Sorry if I offended one of your "prominent" dudes. I could care less if he's considered "prominent" or just a guy with a dog on a rope in the backyard. You have nothing to prove by making a dog HTX10 or HTX10,000,000. Once a dog makes HTX3 he's shown me everything I need to see.

I will say this, all you guys with your panties in a bunch over my comment are right, It's none of my business how a guy decides to spend his money. Let me rephrase it, if you think that HTX10 is better than HTX3 you have a small brain.
