I usually just wait till about 8 months old but I have one that's 4 months old Im fixin to start taking and you never know around here what we might encounter. Plus when yall usually start them on ivomec? I usually start them at 6 months old. Can I give it at 4 months recken?

I am a vet tech down at best friend vet in braselton ga and we do rabies at 3 months and you can do ivomec at 8 weeks 1/10th of a cc per 10 lbs of body weight. Have used that method for 8 yrs with goodluck so far!

All of that sounds pretty well right to me. I figured four months for rabies. The reason is , I want the shot in their system a couple of weeks before they are likely to get bit by a coon. I don't start pups that can't keep up with me getting to a tree. I don't expect younger pups to keep up with my track scortchers. LOL.
Ivermec I give only for heartworms. I am under the impression that microfilaria cannot pass the placenta, therefore pups are born heartworm free. However they can get mosquito bit the day they are born. I am also under the impression that it takes 9 months for the various stages of heartworm filaria to reach the tiny adult stage where they are no longer filaria but a tiny worm that is not susceptable to Ivermeck. Therefore I don't see a reason to start pups on Ivermeck before seven or eight months old.
I use worm medicine for stomack worms depending on what kind of worm I recon it is, but not likely Ivermect for them. I use earmite remedies of several types but not likely Ivermec.
Not long ago I had a feist with a litter that got puppy mange at 5 weks old. I dipped them in a leftover product I had on hand that was no longer on the market. I was advised of a remedy using injectable Ivermec at a rate of two drops out of a syringe per pound of puppy. Then put one cc of water per pup on the Ivermec and since I had seven pups that would be 7 cc of water and give each pup one cc of the solution by mouth daily for a week. I did it and the mange cleared up but I can't swear it wasn't the dip that did it.
I realize Ivermec is pretty safe over a broad range of doses but I also blieve if I use it for worms and mites and everyother problem that might crop up I might get on the high end real quick. JMO
In other words DAWG....just go on and do it an be done with the discussion!
I'd never let one of mine loose in the woods without their rabies up to date.

Go with what katie said .
Now was that 1CC per 10 # or 1 CC per pound of Ivomec on the rabies? I can never get that straight!

It is .1cc per 10 pounds. That is one tenth of one cc. Actually, any vet will tell you .5 cc is the dose for a dog up to 80 pounds.

No!!! Sorry, I thought we were on Heartworm prevent. All I know about rabies is you go to the vet and get them vaccinated.
