Started the boys coon hunting last night!
After 25 years of not going coon hunting, I went for the first time last night with my 15 and 17 year old. I'm a disabled vet, was diagnosed with a illness that will get you within 10 years, mixed connective tissue disease. I was looking for someway to spend more quality time with the boys, they came up with coon hunting. My oldest son was given a 9 month old blue tick, my youngest son bought a skin and bones red bone off a trader for 30.00. We've been working them on caged coon for a couple weeks. We went last night, made a drop in a standing corn field by the creek. In 20 minutes the 9 month old caught a kitten on the ground and killed it and brought it to us. In the next hour we treed two more, they split treed about forty yards apart. The boys had a ball, they are hooked for life. We're going to make it a habit of going as often as possible, the blue dog is sure looking like she is going to make a heck of a meat hound. Going brought back a flood of memories for me, proud of the boys for working their dogs. I've got to save p and get them some decent lights. We all need to get more young people in the woods.
What a blessing you all must be to each other. Congratulations.

Wow, what a great experience!, not too many times you can drop 2 young dogs for the first time and have a night like that! Hope you five have many more nights together.
