AO Thursday "Bench Show"

I knew that it was just a matter of time. I just saw the rules for the Thursday "Bench Show" at Autumn Oaks. How can you have a "Bench Show" with no benches?????

Posted by Allen / UKC on 08-11-2011 04:16 PM:

King Richard, have you been in hibernation for the past three years? W'er ya bin?

Posted by Richard Lambert on 08-11-2011 04:19 PM:

I only come out at night now. How long will it be before y'all get rid of the benches altogether?

Posted by Todd K / UKC on 08-11-2011 05:10 PM:

Why are you asking so many bench show questions? Can't compete with Roberts in the woods anymore?

I'm glad. I can't get mine to be still on a bench anyway.

Richard, in the stud dog class/brood bitch class, if all breeds are represented there is a possiblity of having 28 dogs in the ring... thats a whole lotta benches!

I think the duals and pairs are benched and the new bred by exhibiter says both on the ground & on the bench . All Thursday and then Fri & Sat is the same as always.
Just looking forward to being there .

I'll give it a shot but may not have it right.

Stud would be the dog and pups out of that dog as a group

Brood bitch class would be the same only pups out of the female

Bred by exhibter is new this year and sounds similar to all bench shows with the exception of the HANDLER must be the owner of the female at the time of whelping of the dog entered. Have no idea why there is a slight difference for the B & T's.

In the Bred By Exhibitor class, the dogs will be judge on the ground and on the bench. Dogs must be six months of age or older and be UKC registered. The handler must be the breeder of the dog (owner of the dam at the time of whelping/person to whom the litter is registered), but doesn’t have to be the owner of that dog. The classes will be divided by breed and sex. All ages show together. (Ex., B&T Male). All male class winners/female class winners will show for Best Bred By Exhibitor Overall Male/Female. The Best Male and Female will show for Best Overall Bred By Exhibitor Dog.

Todd, I can't get Roberts in the woods anymore! He is a "show person" now. I will have to start bench showing to compete with him. The last hunt that I went to, there he was showing Cain on the bench. I think that he has made him a Gr Sh Ch now. If I am the co-owner of his mother, can I show Tom Tom in the bred by exhibiter class? What time do you think that this class will be shown?

Just a thought :

Would I be wrong to assume that you would need your entries permanent papers to enter the Bred by Exhibitor class since the easy entry card does not have that information on it? It would be a real let down to find out later that even a class winner wasn't eligible and knocked you out of the show.

Showin' a bunch of ol' hounds sure has gotten complicated. Just sayin'.

Dale you don't even need an easy entry card to to enter a regular show anymore, why would you need to prove of being the breeder?

You do if you don't want to pay extra to enter. Just thought the handler having to be the breeder of record was what that class was all about and that info is on the dogs papers. Honor system works were there is honor but some just don't read the rules.

Honor....Integrity.....and just plain ole Moral Code! Something many people are LACKING so I have learned.....UKC better check the papers or you will have some try to slip in a dog just to win. After the pic is made they wont care if the win gets taken away from someone deserving.

I agree Richard. I'd have to say if was inclined to get into the nite hunts I'd be in sorry shape. Just to many rules and fine points for me to deal with. I've always been able to understand who gets out and finds the coon first did the better job that night but so much of the rest just doesn't interest me. Just to lazy to figure it out I guess. See you at AO's.
