Calling all good people
Ok I might be wrong for doing this but oh well.
I am not going to use names because I am just not.
Had a man inquire about a dog I had, All was going good. Told him about the holes and gave him a price. It was a little far and I understand that. Well comes to find out this is a 16 year old kid and he needs a dog. I would give him my but I only own half of the one for sale. I gave him a price to buy the other guy out.
Surely there is someone out there that can help this kid out with a decent dog at a decent price. I would hate to know I was 16 with all the temptations out there now, at lease this kid is going in the right direction.
He does not know I was doing this let me know if you would be interested in helping and I will PM you his info. He never said anything about being a kid or needing help getting a dog so I may be wrong.

I am not a negative person by nature, but by experience, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. I have given good pups to kids and loaned them good trained dogs to start the pup with. Then they show up in a brand new fourwheel drive with all the gadgets. Then come to find out they don't have a place to hunt or don't know how to hunt and most likely just too lazy to hunt. Then want me to come get my dog. I figure a kid has as much spending money as any body these days and if they don't, let them save their allowance a few more weeks. I know all kids are different. I'd just like to find a different kind that did not take me for a sucker.
OK. I'm ready for all you do gooders to really get on my case.
I told him I didn't think my dog was what he was looking for and told him I would be on the look out. I priced my dog as cheap as I could give him my half and buying my partners. He would have prob. bought it anyway if it wasn't so far.

aj, I had a man give me a dog for 10 live coons when I was getting started. I hunted the hair off that dog and ended up getting him into the top 16 in pkc for Ga. Ive also gave kids dogs. some end up being good dogs and some have ended up being just a pet. But for me as long as I try to help people I feel I am doing what the good lord would want me to. I wouldnt let it discourage you about some people getting screwed over.

Don't mean to sound mean here but when I was 16 i wasn't worried bout chasing dogs or ring tails I would hunt coon one night a week and chicks six nights a week, I wouldn't have had a decent dog if it wasn't for my step dad hunting it when I was out after them girls. Most of my experience dealing with teenagers is if they ain't been raised with hunting dogs will try them then give it up, I would refer him to coondawgs.com orphaned free hounds maybe he can find something on there to make sure he will stick with it first.

I sent him in a direction to try. The kid was wanting to buy a dog and I could have sold him mine it just wasn't what he needed.
Countryboys I think I am doing the right thing.
Hotshots630 I was the same way but I would hate to be a teenager now with all the things out there that 1 night a week in the woods could keep him out of alot of trouble.
Greg I want to know what you mean about not shooting him straight I wish you would clarify.

He must have gone to sleep and since I cannot read his mind I can only take a guess. I'm guessing he was wondering if you shot him straight about buying half interest in the dog, but I may well be wrong. You said you "Covered all the holes" So I, myself , would not wonder about that.
I like my dogs and I breed what I got because I like what I got. I make sure I control the breeding part. I sell half pretty regular. I make sure my half will be in my pen when the Gators go in or he won't be leaving here to start with. Some want to Comp hunt, some live in places they can hunt in summer and not worry about Gators and help finnish one out, some are just chinchy and I will probably sell them a dog that does what they say they want and I'll be negotiable on the price. There is no guarantee after that. You paid as little as you could , that is your dog now so stick him up your a -- and I don't want to hear any yow yowing whichever way you can make him turn out. Needless to say, if you think you made a deal on what I consider thousands dollar dog for three or four hundred and you get the whole dog, it is only because I know I have someting better that is all mine. I don't mind all the trial you want right here, and when you get a dog from me all yours for 1/4 price, my guarantee to you is "I'll call you a crybaby" . If you made that decision to buy him, he's yours. If you made the decision to buy half, he's ours. Maybe I can straighten him out.
Believe it it or not, I place dogs in competent hands this way. I do cull heavey on that few though.
