Two questions sum up life....
Why am I here ? And Where am I headed.
I have an ol country vet and he said they ran titers {sp} on dogs that had the whole regiment of shots as puppies and he would not recommend boosters for the older dogs, now that was his opinion that once the dogs were vac as a puppy they maintained the protection when they were older.JMO
Boosters
I have read that any shots given to puppies under 14 weeks is for the benefit of the vets pocket book and not for the good of the dog. The reason being is the pups are still using all the imunities they got from mama dogs milk up untill this point so thier imune system doesn't have to kill the virus in the shot. The article went on to say that studies showed that one shot at 14 weeks and a booster a year later was good for at least 7 years and in all probability the life of the dog, this includes rabies. When I asked my vet he would not confirm or deny this and quickly changed the subject and got me out of his office. What about us? We don't go get boosters every year for the measels, schools don't require kids to get them every year so why does a dog need them? Go to oldcountryvet.com there is alot of good info there and his book is only $20 and wellworth it. It can answer just about every question you could think of. Thanks Justin
