Question for contractors/excavators?

Looking for some advice on a laser level for a small excavating buisness, just wanted to see what anyone else uses and if/how it works for them.

I use

LB10 by laser alignment. It's old, but it works like a champ. It shoots within 1/64th at 1000 yards.

Spectra Precision is also another "more affordable" laser company that does not lack anything in quality.

Try to steer away from self leveling units. Get one with single round level or 2 normal ones to dial it in.

Self leveling units will recalibrate and continue to spin after they get moved without you knowing. Manual levelers let you know, and then you can reset your desired elevations.

I second this.
