Autumn Oaks Question

I am planning on hunting my registered female, but she is due in heat in mid-august. If she does come in heat, can I hunt another one of my dogs in her place?

I have checked the rules on page 86 but it has nothing about this. I'm thinking I can, but I want to be sure.

Yes, another dog, registered in your name, may be substituted in the event your female comes in season at that time.

Thanks guys. I am sure that Frog will come in heat, she has stayed pretty much on a 6 month cycle but you never know. So, I guess I had better get Haze out of the stud pen and get him tuned a little just in case. thanks.

A vet statement is not required for substituting a female in season.

Dustin, I'm guessing it was set up that way years ago to prevent people from selling entries and making a big mess out of the pre-draw, etc.

I think if you sign up a open dog & it comes in heat you have to still hunt a open dog right??? I don't think you can hunt Grand because you were signed up as hunting a open dog...???

Maybe Allen or Todd can clear this up for me.

Dr Laster, you know that if you breed her then it will set her heat cycle back to Oct/April. If you take Haze, I will handle him for you Sat night. If you take Frog, I will "handle" her for you Sunday morning. Brian, it has never been posted/printed anywhere that the dog had to be in the same category. It always just says that they must be the same owner.

The substitute does not have to be in the same category as the original entry. Although, because all Grands hunt on Friday then a Grand could not be substituted on Saturday.

Now Richard....you know that Haze is a Grand and would have to hunt on Friday night....

So that means you would have to hunt him that night..
