show question?
A friend of mine got a female english pup, he got her for a hunting dog but she is put together really well and I think she will win on the bench, but she has one blue eye, is that a DQ fault?
Thanks!
Lizz

It says they should be dark with tight fitting eyelids but I didnt see where it was a disqualifying fault

To my knowledge the only disqualifying faults are rear duclaws and blindness ..im no expert so maybe somebody else knows for sure

I didn't think it was a DQ fault because it doesn't say it in the list of those faults but it doesn't say anything, anywhere about being allowed or not allowed to have them

It's hard to see in this pic but her other one is very dark (almost black)

This pup is only 2 months old but he wants to possibly show her someday and so we'd like to know... ya know? He has some others that are ready for nitehunts and shows but this little female is pretty good looking for her age

Yeah, he actually picked her because of it but now he wants to know if he can show her

She is a doll-baby! What is her name? It would have been cool, if both of her eyes was that beautiful blue....
Her call name is Chevy, I got her for a friend and we own her together, he registered name is "K&G's Blue Eye'd Baby"

ELIMINATING FAULTS
(A dog with an Eliminating Fault is not to be considered for placement in a bench show/conformation event, nor are they to be reported to UKC.)
Males under 22 inches or over 27 inches. Females under 21 inches or over 25 inches. (Entries in Puppy Class are not to be eliminated for being undersize.)
DISQUALIFICATIONS
(A dog with a Disqualification must not be considered for placement in a bench show/conformation event, and must be reported to UKC.)
Any brindle in coat. Undershot or overshot. Unilateral or bilateral cryptorchid. Viciousness or extreme shyness. Albinism. Deaf. Blind.
SERIOUS FAULT
Lacking in adequate angulation: i.e. post legged.
Note: Spayed and neutered dogs may compete in all UKC Licensed Coonhound Events, including bench shows, nite hunts, water races and field trials.
This is all I found in the English Breed standard for DQ's. I'm sure it would be considered a fault but I don't think it would be a DQ.
Thanks Dale, that's all I can find too. Like I said it says they should have dark eyes but says NOTHING about what happens if they have a blue one

it would more than likely come down to 2 equal dogs and the one that "best meet the breed standards" (w/o blue eye) would be chosen

I agree with Cynthia . At local shows you're likely to run into dogs with worst problems than a blue eye but if you get to AO's or something similar where the level of competition steps up to the max it will most likely keep you from winning. The other side of that coin is if she turns out exceptionally nice you'll never know unless you try because some judges may consider it terrible and others never blink an eye as to it's importance on the overall scale of the dog. LOL's , this can happen at big OR little shows, just have to take it in stride and live with it.
I doubt she would win big even w/ two dark eyes lol

...sorry had to laugh!! I agree with Cynthia, it is not a DQ but may keep the dog from winning when it comes down to splitting hairs....__________________

this not a DQ fault. A freind has a male with a blue eye that is a bench champion.
