People on this board are so paranoid about getting cheated in a hunt it is pathetic.

Worry about what is on the end of your leash and strike it when it strikes and tree it when it trees. Do that and your hunts will go a lot better, you will probably win more casts too.

If your dog is consistently sitting under a coon looking up no amount of cell phones or text messages is going to beat you.

the delay in waiting on a text from the buddy at the truck is not reliable. the delay would kill you and i hope you get signal.

that tracker looks pretty good. i wonder how weather proof or water proof it is.

i would imagine the real reason to not be able to use the cell phone is scores. Ukc's cast win mean nothing unless you have the highest score of the hunt. so if JOE-bob gets done early and text or call Ole EARL whos is still hunting, his score or the cast score, well then ole EARL has a little more ambition to make a few quicker call's or if he isnt on the most honest cast maybe they change a little score by maybe one extra plus strike and tree. now who;s the winner.

there is an arguement for "we hunted before we had cellphones"
this is true but would you go back to when we didnt have them at all.

now that the astro 320 has a vibrate option, do you think anyone will utilize that in a nite hunt. sure they will.

what does ukc do with that? do they make you keep them in the truck. they should'nt. there is some risk leaving them in the truck.

say time out is called. garmin is in the truck. dog are closing in on the road. walk to the truck get the garmin out find dogs all dead on the road. now that half mile or more walk to the truck to find the dogs sure would have saved some time.

we have HONOR rules in the sport if you done have enough HONOR to not cheat stay at the house.

And then you would be minused. Because if no one else in the cast can hear the dog treed then your minused. Even if a man can HONESTLY hear his dog treed, he better hope someone else in the cast can also hear it, cause if you tree it and your the only person that can hear it then your going back 125 points. Been there done that.

I say let people use there cell phones but the first time the conversation or text has anything to do with the coonhunt your on the person is barred for life.Would it be worth the risk?I can do without my cell phone for a couple hours.

Any MOH that puts a cast together is doing it wrong IMO. At our club all names go down and casts are drawn out in front of everyone at the club for all to see.

I live in the mountains of western NC were the terrian is steep in places and when a dog is going up the steep terrian the garmin will tell you it is treed when in reality it is not so if anybody would try to cheat using the garmin to call their dogs treed around here they would end the night with plenty of minus pts

Other hunters in the cast might want to listen to the dogs rather all the bull that the phones are used for . Leave them in the truck.
