My step son is in basic training at Lackland Air force Base , San Antonio, TX. He Graduates next week. Going to be a Air traffic Controller. I am Very Proud Of him, And love him very much.
I don't have any children in the service but do have two nephews in the US Army and one of my daughters has a half brother in there, too. The half brother is in Iraq now and has already received a purple heart. One of the nephews has served in Afganistan and is scheduled to go to Kuwait soon. He's in the Rangers and is a drill instructor right now. The other nephew is in the Medical Corp. We've been told he's currently in Germany but that can change at any time.

My daughter went to basic at Ft Jackson and then on to Ft Gordon. She is currently stationed in Germany after having been in Kuwait for a year. She is due to come home in June, but who knows how long she will be able to stay in the states.
But I am very proud of her, and if your son likes the Army even half as much as she does, he'll do great.
