Anyone know of any real good crossbreeds out there?

Blue tic to walker, black and tan to redbone, walker to english?
Was just curious if anyone knew of any, especially titled dogs like Grand nite to Grand nite. And how the results were.

I'am up to a just about even 4 way cross , Yet only using the Very Best that I really like out of each breed .

I have 3--2 year olds that are about 4 quarter with Bloodhound being 12-1/2 % greater than the BlueTick Blood.

So their basicly 32% Bloodhound X 18% Bluetick X 25% English X 25% Walker ..

Out of the 3 that I kept (and the whole litter)--- theirs 1 that Trully Homogenized all 4 breeds to what I was looking for ..

Nearly every pup is different in what the Main Breed that shines thru the Most ..

But only the Very best lines have been used ..

Wondo River KONG
Texas Lotto
Taylors Pac-O-Pearl
"Lacy" MoneyMaker English
Rocky English
Smokey River
Womack

Good Subject !!!!!

I have always wanted UKC to reg. crossbreeds, just like PKC does. We know crossbreeds can work just look at Tenn. Hardrock, and Get Ahead Lil Red . Dogs like this really should not have been forced to reg. as one breed , they are crossbreeds and should be reg. as such. This would also be the perfect place to reg. off colored dogs, like buckskin Plotts ,red headed Black+Tans, heavily ticked Walkers, or anything else that keeps a dog from perfectly fitting its breed standard. I would love to be able to take a female that totally suited Me and breed Her to any male that totally suited Me and not be restricted to any breed.
Years ago I had a Bluetick Plott cross. His color was sort of like a redtick but every dot had brindle stripes. He was beautiful !! He was one of My very favorite dogs.If He were reg. I would probably still have some of His bloodlines.

The next litter of pups I raise will be crossbred. My redbone female with a walker stud that I have yet to choose but I have narrowed it down to a couple or three that I am really considering.

My female already has a walker/redbone cross about 3 generations back that nobody mentions because the litter was papered as pure bred redbones.

Water Oak Blue is a walker/english cross. He won the state of kansas in pkc last year, is a Grand nite, and placed in the top 16 in the akc nationals a couple years ago. He is a real nice hound.

Is it just me but registering a crossbreed sounds about as strange as registering a true cur or a mongrel. Not talking about the curs that everybody has known the ancestors for generations. but just a regular old cur dog you'd see trotting all over county untill animal control started killing them. I don't blame UKC for not registering them. It's why i understand the name change from leopard Cur to Leopard Hound. It's not like they were a cur one minute and bang, now they're a hound. But when you cross two different breeds the offspring has two different breeds in them.

So whatever happened to UKC "Grade" hunts? Do they still allow them. Seems like that would fit the bill for people that just wanted to hunt in competition.

The first UKC hunt I went to they had a four dog cast in the registered and a three dog cast in the Grade so I got drawn out with the grade. I wondered how they would feel about hunting with a registered dog but it didn't seem to bother them. Now I had a pretty good dog but this was my first Comp hunt And my dog had never hunted in saltmarsh. They struck on the edge of the marsh and left him like he was cripple. They all got way out there and when they brought the coon out my dog was so far behind I was plum ashamed. After about three more trees he just stayed on the hill and finally got one treed but I knew he was the sorriest dog out there that night. I always have and always will figure a dog that can't compete has to get off to himself to show anything. You can bet I started hunting him in saltmarsh on a regular basis.

I have two yearlings as a result of my I cross breding, 1/4 Walker and 3/4 Leopard. Can't wait to see how they finnish out.

cross breeding hounds is nothing new and will be done as long as hunters hunt. i see nothing wrong with crossbreeding as long as the registered dog meets the standard of one of the parents. For example a walker and redbone are bred and the pup looks like an english redtick. that pup should not be registered because it does not meet the standard of one of the parents. It does not have any redtick blood in it so therefore, even if it meets the english standard it should not be registered as english, it is a grade dog. nothing wrong with cross breeding dogs in my opinion. i hunt cross bred Treeing Curs. just make sure they meet the standard of one of the parents before regitering

NITECH GRCH DILLARD'S WHITE OAK PRIDE

2 year old single registered English hound that gets in done. 2 wins toward his GRNITECH degree and 75 points toward his WCH degree, a Grand Show Champion, and he has barely been pushed in the hunts. PRIDE is off (TREEING WALKER) GRCH NITECH PR TIBB CREEK DOC & (ENGLISH) NITECH GRCH PR DILLARD'S WHITE OAK FROSTY. A true honest balanced hound with a overpowering mouth. I'm very pleased with the results from my cross!!

Im old enough to remember when the grade dogs could hunt UKC. Never could understand why they decided to exclude them other than the fact that a grade dog was often high scoring dog? Back then the grade dogs that showed up wernt after titles they were there cause they were COONDOGS.

I have one right now that i would pay UKC. some entry money on if i could.

i don't breed crossbreds, but sometimes things happen and you get but, things did happen. I didn't get my female redbone put up in time and she got bred.So low and behold I have some crossbreeds. Many years ago that is how a lot of breeds got started, Quite alot of people like some crossbreeds. There are some registries that do register crossbreds. I am glad that UKC does not and that it does stay with purebreds.

In Reality

Prior to the mid 1940's all Treeing Walker and Bluetick hounds were registered as English hounds. When they separated as their own (Breeds) the English Breeders retained the right to single register Treeing Walkers and Blueticks back to the fold. So really in the grand scheme of things your just bringing that Treeing Walker and Bluetick blood back to the fold when you cross back on any of the three.
