Early Morning Hunt Question

I been thinking about trying to get out in the early morning to try and beat the heat. It was still 82 when we turned out last night. Anyone ever tried hunting say around 4 am or so? Did you have any luck?
We will be done with school for the summer, next week and I will have time to try it. J/W if anyone had ever tried this.

It was 78 when we got done hunting last night. I'm purty sure hunting every night in that kind of heat paid off for us last year when our dog got on a winning streak. She won several hunts on hot nights when the other dogs quit. Not the most fun time to hunt but prolly worth the effort.

My experience hunting early morning is that you will hit a lot of old tracks. The flipside is you will also hit tracks in places you never did when cutting loose at the edge of dark.

In the early morning you can cut loose in places that get a lot of hunting pressure and still sometimes get a coon when you couldn't at the edge of dark.

early morning hunts

I've made early morning hunts all My life, I thought everybody did !! I do like You said in the summer to beat the heat , I also do this during open season during phases of the moon when its moonlit early in the night but dark later on. Of course I also hunt early morn. when conditions are good all night long and I hunt all night long . Did that all nite thing a lot when I was younger , not so much any more.

We used to hunt early morning alot in the summer. Head out about 3 am and hunt till daylight. Treed alot of coon after daylight. It's awesome to walk to dogs with the sun starting to shine. Another thing we used to do is actually turn out an hour before dark and hit some decent tracks when it is really hot. Coons will come down early to get water when it is hot. Treed some coons in the hot weather with pups between eleven and two during the day. Coons come down to the creeks to get water and cool off and to look for a good shady tree to lay in. In my opinion you have more hunting options in the summer heat then in the winter freeze. That is if you can handle the heat and don't push your dogs to hard that it is to hard on them.

I love going early in the mornings. We tree more coons right before and right after daylight than any other time when its hot outside.
