Mater in Dogs Eyes

Is there a solution I can use to clear up my dogs eyes?

What's the matter?

Lovis,
Most of the time this time of year it is from dust and pollen.

When mine get this way I give them a benedryl twice a day for a few days and it really seems to help. If they are on dirt kennels you can also wet them down good at it will help keep the dust down.

Great Job on the Yearbook by the way. It was totally awesome!!

Mater is the same stuff you have in the corner of your eyes when you wake up some mornings. Or when you have a bad allergies. And in my dogs case. His eyes are running and when it dries it leaves mater.

Lovis, lots of time, flies and knats cause this. Believe it or not, a fan in their pen helps a lot.

lovis, if this is a recurring problem, then they may have actual allergies. you can get a blood test and find out for sure...and it could be something you're feeding them. I had Elvira done and she has mostly food allergies (never knew). gave her the injections for a few years during the warm months and all cleared up. have not given her any for the last few and have not had a recurrence, but also changed her diet. sometimes its just easier to know up front than to continue to chase your tail.

Find a local bee keeper and get some honey that is produced locally. Put a teaspoon of the honey on your dogs feed every other day or so.
