tracking system question...

seems like i remember seeing something about when putting the tracking collar on the dog that you were supposed to have the antenna on one side or the other.....anybody know if it even makes any difference.

im talking the tracking collar on a wildlife system(the old beep beep) type.

i cant see where it would make any difference, but for some reason i thought someone wrote where it did.

This applies to a collar with a tree switch. I think my Johnsons had to be on the left if you were facing the dog, otherwise, the mercury would not flow poperly to complete the circuit to make the collar beep faster.

I just tested my Johnson and it is to the left.

yep..its because of the tree switch like was said...

the 2 quick tracks i use antennas are on the dogs right...

i put a piece of reflective tape on the front of the unit so i know that goes forward and reflects nicely...

ive heard of some guys that run coyote hounds that switch their collars around so if their dogs take a yote to a den and they are digging/facing down in the hole baying etc it activates the tree switch...
