*!* Great Job Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation *!*

Once again the GHFF has done an outstanding job fighting for the rights of outdoorsman in the state of Georgia!

"Today Hb 277 passed the House of Representatives tonight with a vote of 122 yeas to 48 neas. This was accomplished by hard work from the members of the Georgia Hunting & Fishing Federation, from members of other sportsmen groups in the state, and because of the tireless effort of Representative Jason Shaw, Gene Maddox, Jay Roberts, Al Williams, Chairman John Burns, Chairman Tom McCall, and many other representatives across the state. GHFF president Reggie Dickey and lobbyist William Woodall worked long and endless hours on this legislation and it has paid off for the sportsmen of GA. Thanks to all who made a phone call and/or sent an email on behalf of HB277. This legislation will now go to the Senate to be considered for passage. We cannot relax yet, we will get contact info to you in the next day or so to start contacting the senators to ask for their support of HB 277. Again thanks to all, this could not be accomplished without the effort of everyone getting involved."
Ronnie Gaskins
Chairman of Board, Georgia Hunting & Fishing Federation

This is Money well spent boys and girls! If you are not a member of this organization I encourage you to visit their website and find out how to join! It's people like this that ensure folks like us get to do what we love in the woods! Let's get behind them and show our support!!

www.ghff.us - It's only $25 per year and this is one organization that when you give them $25 you get more than your $25 worth!!

Ga ? Hunting rules ? when i put those two things together our wonderful "only 6 volt light " rule, and our coon season that lasts a grand total of 4 and a half months comes to mind right off the bat.

i'm with ya there jason... just think up here where we're from we "legally" cant live trap coons... now isnt that strange when all we need 'em for is pup training... i think they did away with the 6volt rule now tho haven't they??

They do more for hunters than any organization in the state!!

Not criticizing anyone trying to help. We NEED help. But when you say the law was changed, do you mean like a "proposal" changed or actually according to our game wardens changed ?

yeah Alabama knows what the deal is too. I checked on getting out of state liscence to hunt small game in ALabama . About $500 if memory serves me right. But yet for them to come over here and hunt small game is a fraction of that.

Posted by swampmusic2005 on 03-17-2011 04:44 AM:

yeah and they can shoot out 3 per night man i could have all my dogs tasting fur on a nighty basis... you should see these north ga dogs out in the back yard drawing straws to see wigh one fights the coon tonight haha.... seen some dogs in tallapoosa playing rock, paper sciccors for the shoot out hahaha

I'm from SC. Is it true what they say about Dixie? Does the sun really shine all the time? Do the sweet Magnolias blossom round everybody's door? Do the folks there still eat possum till dey can't eat no mo? No. Just kidding, that's the lyrics of an old song. But, is it true that ya'll can't have a treeing contest with a real live coon? Is it true you cannot show a pup a coon in a rolling cage? Say it ain't so!! Well , no wonder. LOL

Its written right in the Hunting regs book that is put out every year Thank the GHFF Join just for the fact they changed this law for us.......

This is the letter of the law

LEGAL HOURS
for hunting are 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset, except that alligators, raccoons, opossums, foxes, coyotes, bobcats and feral hogs may be hunted at night. Any light used to hunt raccoons, opossums, foxes, or bobcats shall be carried on the person of a hunter, affixed to a helmet or hat worn by a hunter, or be part of a belt system worn by a hunter. Legal hours for migratory bird hunting conform to federal regulations.

And if you got a grudge against anybody, then call the dog catcher and make an "annonimous" complaint. They'll quit catching strays and run over to harrasss whoever you turned in. Believe me. And when they ask for a FOIA Freedom of Information Act request you will still be protected by The HSUS types even though the dog catcher will swear to God they have nothing to do with HSUS.
And if you decide to be a self proclaimed Do Gooder, Keep calling annonimously. We now have six brandass new Z71 with diamond plated dogboxes with winches on the front. Because the annonmous callers are helping them create a kingdom. So they can go to county council and show the need for for personel and equipment. I don't even live in town so keep this a secret, I bin turning in the Mayor every week and it is about to drive him crazy. He is going to "take the matter" before county council soon. They got photos of his dog feed pan which was empty. Heaven forbid, but he doesn't feed up till 5:30 so he says . Yea , right, I bet he tries to starve that fat dog to death. JMO

So let me see if I got this right. The anonymous callers call in and they rush out to harass the citizen and then go to council to ask for more resourses because they are so over worked and get more because of the Socialismnized system . Then they can hire the anonymous caller what obviously did not have she it better to do. The song"It's a Strange World isn't it" comes to mind.

So this is the state of our "cutting edge " County for you. You can take a stick and beat hell out of your wife and she has no homeless or other shelter. You beat a dog and you go to jail. Liberals. Gotta love 'em.

....HB 277..............only part of it I am familiar with is, NOW it is LEGAL to bait deer in the Southern Zone in Georgia..........

Posted by GA DAWG on 03-17-2011 04:59 PM:

Most everybody already baited in the southern zone anyhow..This will just make folks legal..I've hunted in the southern zone 6 years now..Even the small indian run stores sell corn on every corner..Atleast they do in Arabi.. Its not officially passed yet though..Still has to go to the senate and then be signed by a north ga govener!!! I could care less either way really. We have huge ag fields and lots of them..Corn want draw them away from that..I know that for a fact cause we run feeders all season and still kill em in the fields! Plus Jason I think their was a bill introduced that would make coon trapping and killing 3 coon a night part of the northern coon zone also..It was on here a while back. I've not heard anymore about it..I for one hope it dont pass.We dont need them being trapped out or need to kill that many a night..We dont have the population south and middle ga has. If you want to catch one for a pup. You cant tell me you guys have always followed the letter of the law anyhow and never caught one for a pup anyhow! LOL...Crap I have animal control bring them to me.. Renagade coons I guess

Folks i sit on the BOD of the GHFF and now serve as President of the GFCH. I can assure you there are things in motion to bring all of Georgia under one rule as for as raccoon goes anyway. The HB 277 bill was passed, and for one single reason it only includes the Southern half of the state, that being the interest wasn't there in the North. Yes i am sure things wil change now that it has passed, and should there be enough interest, These organizations will once again go to bat for you in Atlanta. We do need your help, and want it. Join our memberships. The fee you pay is a small one compared to the work that gets done. JOIN the FIGHT, or lose YOUR RIGHTS! It is fact people. The anti's will not rest until they beat us down. join us. we welcome your help and ideas.

So whats the things in motion to bring all of ga to one coon regulation? Does it have a number? I joined the GFCH one time..Seemed to me it was a big waste of my hard earned money..I never heard crap from them..Would look on the website..Never nothing on there updated..Didnt seem ran with the members in mind..Heck they want to know stuff!! If a dog gets shot and federation is going to help it..The members should know..If something like this HB 277 is written..Soon as the federation knows..The members should know. Just like the things in the works about coon trapping in north ga.. The federation has nothing on the website about any of this stuff that I see..Maybe if yall get it fixed..I'll join again..Why have a membership if they are not included and active in the things going on!
