What's the CRAZIEST???

What's the craziest thing a judge has tried to do in a cast, not knowing the correct ruling?

After reading the rules question posted about Garmins, it got me to thinking about last weekend's cast.

As we arrived to the woods to turn loose last weekend, the judge asked the cast, "Is it alright if EVERYONE (meaning spectators) shine?" After I replied, "No", he asked to take a vote on it! LOL

After that one got hashed out... he began to link his Garmin up to my collar and everyone else's there. I asked what in the heck he was doing... He said, "Well, we're gonna link all 4 collars up to my Garmin and my girlfriend is going to carry it with her on the cast while it is ON so none of the dogs get in danger or out of pocket."

I about S**T my pants! Jesus, amen... the MOH just read about "Electronic Tracking Devices" 20 minutes ago at the clubhouse!!!

Don't most clubs discuss rules and rules changes during meetings PRIOR to handing the card over to someone that has NO CLUE???

So what's your craziest rules bending experience in the woods?

The dogs got deep I struck and treed my dog we went in he had a coon scored him hunt times up were walking back out we walk right under a possum he barks once or twice the judge attempts to scratch me knowing the hunts been Over for about thirty minutes

Two dogs called treed, 1st in front and 2nd behind us. Go toward the 1st called tree and walk out of hearing of the 2nd called tree. Judge wanted to start the two minutes on the dog knowing he was out of hearing.

i think any time u are under the authorey of the judge in a nitech cast you can be scratched even before during or after

RULES

Sometimes the craziest thing people see a judge due is follow the rules. You guys should really read up before you turn your dogs loose. Then you wouldn't have guys saying he tried to scratch me for off game when time was up. The crazy thing was you should have been scratched and you weren't.

New rule change as of 1 Jan. 2011. Nt Ch and Gr Nt Ch can't be scratched for off game after the hunt time is over.

maybe he was windin a coon 2 trees over and judge just assumed it was the opossum he could see?? assuming dog was on lead that is a tough call.

Now that's what I'm talking about! How can guys legitimately take the card, or even a MOH give a card to someone like this!

I think MANY problems start with the people holding the card that DO NOT know what's going on. They are made worse by MOH who know about the same or slightly more than the judge.

I was on a cast at the ZONES a couple years back where we had a split treeing party going on; 12 splits in 2 hours and never more than 1 dog on a tree.

More than once, our judge allowed handler #4 to go tie his dog across the field and WAIT for the rest of the cast to get to his tree AFTER they scored the other trees WITHOUT handler #4 there for scoring.

Nonetheless, that move cost Mr. Judge a Friday night cast win at the zones and possibly a trip to the World Hunt.

hey

When i go to a comp hunt. I dont go to be a prick, i like to see the best dog win. Weather it's my dog or not. I Always let everyone shine, after i take my 2. i also try to trust the people i am hunting with. Unlike others i trust my fellow hunters untill that trust is broken. I feel bad for those who look to scrach others just let it be and have a good time.

the rules are there for a reason if it is a scratchable offense then you are scratched

Its funny how it went from his dog was on a lead walking out and barked a couple times to he treed a possum after the hunt time was over.

i was on a hunt one night and it was in the middle of the summer and the judge wanted to scratch my dog for drinking water has anybody ever heard of that

I didn't get scratched for my dog drinking water on a hot nite, but, she sure took a big hickey for it when she went off the tree 10 feet, drank water and right back to the tree....took a 125 hit and came back in at 25. Like Vito the Barber says, "Heeey, waddya gonna do?"

Was in a RQE one night and the guide had a young dog and a gun with him and he stated we werent going to hunt his good spot unless we let him shoot the coon we treed to his dog....Was the ole tale the farmer wont let me hunt unless we kill... Long story short we hunted that woods without the gun or young dog and treed three or four on the outside.

if its a rule its a rule but it dont make much since that could cost some one a hunt i dont see y u could scratch some 1 after time is up only reasonable way is to point some 1 also once time is up and that dont make since i dunno just think its a good rule

Not the craziest thing I've ever seen, but one that made me go hmmmmm. Pulled up to a spot on the first drop of the night. Get the dogs out, a few of which were opening on the tailgate already. Cut 'em 30 yards from the timber. All dogs were screaming as soon as they were cut, if not before. Within five seconds, three fell treed on the very first tree on the edge of the timber. Heck, we can plainly see each one of the dogs without our lights on!

Dog # 4 trails on into the woods and loads up on what I had a good suspicion and turned out to be the "Hotel California." (I was guiding) One by one A, B and C left and joined "big mouth" on the hotel. After we watch the last dog bail from tree #1 the judge applied the two minutes for those dogs. ????? Meanwhile, we're all standing there looking at a pile of fur at the top of the tree.

Just a guide wondering why the two was applied and why none of the handlers questioned the judge... hmmm

The rule got changed so that dog that was not called treed, but treeing at the end of the hunt when time expired is STILL RESPONSIBLE for what he's got up that tree if it is OFF-GAME.

End of story. You'd be pretty sore if you got beat by a dog that treed a grinner at the end of the hunt but got away with it because he was never actually called treed.

I know I, myself would not consider a dog that treed a possum within hunt time or just out to be the best dog in the cast if no other dogs treed any off game.

had the acting MOH a couple weeks ago try to register his dog 15 minutes after the hunt deadline and swith to a hunt director format. we are in real good hands down here
