Updating Your Garmin...

For those that are wondering how to update your garmins i ran across some good step by step instructions on how to do it. Just figured i would post it to help anyone that may not know how.

updates

Yes garmin puts out updates every so often so you can up date your hand held and your collars. Dont know if they are "new" lately but it had an update for mine.

why the need to update? My is a year old and is working fine but
i don't know nothing about electronics. does it help to update just
wondering if mine work any better couldn't stand it.

My 220 was up to date but my collar needed an update. Collar updated to 3.70.

It helps with the range that you get out of it and keeps the newest software up to date in your garmin.

In my experience it may be better to wait until there is a need to update. I have 2 years on mine without an update, and to this point, knock wood, no issues. There are several of the folks I hunt with who lost range and created issues with the update. So I just keep waiting.

Also updating has been known to make some garmin astros stop working and need repair so in my opinion if it is working leave it alone.

Go the hand held updated, but it will not bring up my collars with the find device. Collar is synced. Any ideas?

Nevermind... I got it. Just deleted and re-added collars and it worked.

my gps tracked real nice i up dated and now i lose dogs at close range alot but i never did collars so that might help out too rich

If you have a dc40 and are loosing signal, you need to update. It takes care of that problem. Make sure you update the 220 and the dc40

That depends on how long it has been on a shelf I just recieved 4 today and all 4 are out of date for newest software so I am updating them now before I sell them you can look at the version to see what it is software wise

hey does the new upgrade make your dc-30 collars blink 3 times.I have never upgrded the collars before,I hope this helps.I have alot of problems with collar miscommunications.they just sent me a brand new handheld right before Autumn Oaks,and I still been having problems.Im keepin mi fangers curossed huh huh.lol

How does updating a collar help with range? I do not have easy use of a computer, so this is a headache if it is something that needs done every few months. My unit was working great but the last few times out it lost signal at 250 yards...cleaned the antena connection and reset the handset...hope that helps. We will see.
