Looks like a yote but awfully big. Where was this taken? I've seen a couple dark yotes like this one before.

Definitely a yote

Posted by brian deeds on 01-28-2011 03:16 AM:

Vicky. I was thinking like 6 months ago there was a pack of wolves spotted up by upper sandusky some where yotes aint that tall. That's bigger than a german shepard. It could be a cross between the both.

coyote

it is big but i assure you its a coyote. theres no wolfs in ohio

Posted by TrlBustinBeagle on 01-29-2011 02:39 AM:

Actually there are wolfs in ohio. The DNR released a few breeding pair of red wolfs in Ohio and Indiana. Wonder if that could be a wolf hybrid mixed with a wild coyote?

Posted by moorebeagles on 01-29-2011 03:23 AM:

Wolf or Yotie

Both! The DNR released Red Wolves in hopes of them somehow dominating the Yotes, instead they inbred, and now We have Super Yotes! Bigger with more of a tendency to hunt in packs!
They are starting to show a total disrespect!
We are getting into PRIME time to thin them out You can put a hurting on them right now!

Posted by mitch gould on 01-29-2011 03:49 AM:

the sub species we have here in the east is call "eastern brush wolves". Coyotes in this region are a northern strain Thus having 50 lbs+ potential. You gotta remember a 50 +lbs yote has a huge frame, long and lanky. These coyotes hav dog genes and distant red wolf genes.

as for the pic......its a yote

hybrid

The red wolf has been expanding its range. The red wolf carries considerable amounts of coyote blood. So they really are super yoties.

Posted by Michigan Gunner on 01-30-2011 10:23 AM:

100% yote. Run and kill lots of them a year. Killed one yesterday that looked almost the exact same.

Posted by hskennels69 on 01-30-2011 05:08 PM:

That is for sure a coyote. It is big and I'm sure there is a lot of rabbits he's taken out as well as other game, and livestock to be that big.Better watch the dogs and children he thinks he can over take.he looking for trouble so someone better take him out.

Posted by hilljack10 on 02-01-2011 11:23 PM:

I would say yote.A big one at that and very dark, but looks like a yote.Ive seen solid black yotes so dont let the color fool you
