Wipeout Dogs

I am wanting some input here on Wipeout dogs..I am pretty new to coon hunting, this is only my 2nd season . I was very very lucky to get what i would call an good all around hound right off the bat. She was already trained already treeing coons, and never runs junk, and is easily 85 to 90% accurate..I was lucky to have people around me that didnt take advantage of me, and guys always tell me that they went through a ton of dogs when they first started before they got a decent one.But anyways, like every other coon hunter, I cant get enough, so I wanted a pup..lol..I liked what i read, and heard about Zeb3, no one really bragged him up, but they did say he was a good hound, so he is who i went with and i got a pup off of him and the mother of my other hound..Now that I got the pup, I hear alot of guys say them wipeout dogs just trail and trail and trail for ever before they tree a coon..What do you guys that have wipeout dogs say? Is this true? Do they trail forever, even in thick coon? Im not sure i want a dog that is going to take forever to tree, because where I live, there is really no reason for it, other than during the rut.I want a dog that will take the track as it comes to them. If they have to go far to tree, go far to get the meat...If they only have to go 200 yards to tree, go 200 yards to get the meat...All the people that say this about the Wipeout dogs, of course dont own one...So what are some opinions or facts, from some of you guys that do own one?

A buddy of mine has wipeout bred walker dogs i hunted a pup for him awile back the pup had alot of fire and go and would run anything from a lion to a lizzard he told me that was common and the tree would come later he claims they tend to be trashy that get treed with a coon

Wipeout

My buddy has one heavy Wipeout and Coma blood. He's a little slow on track, but is very accurate for a younger dog. He's not junky and always seems to hit a coon track pretty close, like mentioned earlier it takes him a little longer to finish a track, but he usually has a coon.

my huntting partner has 3 Coma , Wipeout dogs 1 . is just a pup and is just getting started, the other 2 are coon dogs from start to finish, they both will tree a coon right off the tail gate or go a mile if needed to tree one, they take there tracks as they come to them and both can run the fat off a coon, they both can tree layup coon and both are presher tree dogs , they do not care what another dog is doing they do there owen thing. huntting with these 2 dogs for 2 to 3 years i have never seen them just trail and trail, they both are very acerate and will have the coon or a den (with a coon in it) 95% of the time and are hard tree dogs. i have been trying to get one for my self but the deals always seem to fall through, so if you deside you do not like your pup let me know.

i have coon hunted for over 50 years and had all the breeds and blood lines out there and from what i have seen when the switch goes off they are instint coon dogs (JMO)

WIPEOUT DOGS

Matt;

Barry and I have coon hunted since the early 80's. I've had the opportunity to hunt with a few of the wipeout dogs. What folks have told you about them going deep to get a coon, or going 200 yards to get one is true! Most of them can absolutely fly on a track! My advice would be to call Barry and set up a hunt if your schedule permitts. He would be glad to show you some of his dogs in the timber. Good luck with your dogs.
Barry's cell is 1-(731)-610-3633 I talked to him this morning he was on his way in from the Breeders Stakes where he won two cast with Hillbilly Deluxe.

I have a Wipeout dog. This is the first dog that I have ever owned that wasn't a Black and Tan. The one I have just turned 16 months old, I got him when he was 12 months and he had been hunted 7 times. The dog has shown that he will make a nice dog but I have got to get used to the hunting style I guess. He has treed ONE coon that he struck hot and run a short distance, well let me say stayed treed on it. He has treed several hot ones, only to leave and trail for another 25 min. tree and stay and have coon. Long story short, what I have seen from this one and the ones Iv'e hunted with under 2 year old like to trail a while first. (Not all but a lot). I will keep huntin him cause I think the dog will be a winner. Oh and by the way he seems to trail more when there's a dog in the woods with him that tend to follow him.
Note: This is just what I have expereniced and I am just one man>

I got two of them a 3 year old grandson of Moose x Hickory nut Harry and about a 4 year old out of Zeb x Rat Attack. Im gonna tell ya right now in my opinion I couldnt get no finer dogs. I started the male, had him since he was 4 months old. He was an absolute natural and a hard hard tree dog. He was treeing his own coons on a fairly consistent basis about a month and a half after I started him. He is quick on a track never seen any slowness out of him and will tree the first coon he comes across 2 feet from the truck or 2 miles from the truck and likes to have the coon. The 4 year old female ive had about a year. Shes a little slower on a track but not that bad. If she has another dog with her she will pick up the pace. Has an excellent nose and knows how to use it and will have the meat or a den tree pretty much everytime. I have also heard the wipeout dogs are alittle slower on a track but are dead accurate. I dont really see it in my dogs but all in all at the end of the night thats what I want, the MEAT!!!

I guess thats my question, you hit it, when you said wipeout dogs are not for everyone..For as much winning as they do, I guess i dont understand why someone wouldnt want a wipeout dog..Can you elaborate a little?

Posted by Marcus McDaniel on 01-23-2011 01:35 AM:

MATT, SOME PEOPLE LIKE DOGS THAT SIMPLY GET TREED. AN THEY DONT HAVE TO HAVE A COON, JUST AS LONG AS THEY GET TREED. NOW THE WIPEOUT DOGS THAT I HAVE BEEN AROUND ARE NOT THAT TYPE OF HOUND. THEY TEND TO BE MORE ACCURATE. THEY WONT JUST TREE BECAUSE ANOTHER DOG TREED, OR BECAUSE ITS BEEN AN HOUR AN THEY HAVEN'T MADE A SINGLE TREE. I HAVE SEEN MANY WIPEOUT DOGS INCLUDING WIPEOUT STUD DOGS THAT WONT GET TREED IN A HOUR IF THEY DONT THINK THEY GOT A COON. AN YOU HEAR ALOT OF PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE REALLY TRASHY. ITS ALL IN WHAT YOU HUNT THEM WITH. IF THEY GET TRAINED BY A TRASHY DOG THEN THATS WHAT THEY WILL BE. OR IF THERE TRAINED BY SOMEONE WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO TRAIN A DOG THATS WHAT THEY WILL BE. WHAT IM SAYING MATT IS SIMPLY THIS, THERE ARE GOOD AN BAD WIPEOUT DOGS. ITS LIKE THAT IN ANY BLOOD LINE YOU FIND. I LIKE THEM B/C THEY WORK VERY WELL IN THIN OR THICK COONS. IF YOU DO DECIDE TO GET ONE, GET IT B/C THATS WHAT YOU WANT AN NOT B/C THATS WHAT IS POPULAR RITE NOW. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH.

Hi Matt I have hunted the Wipeout line for 11yrs & I like what I have seen / I have hunted with 8 different ones off Moose & I will say Moose puts a Nice hound on the ground / out of the 8 / 2 were junk / 1 of the 2 would look Good the 1st turn of night & after that NOTHING & the other would do NOTHING / The other 6 were Nice hounds / 1 was Tight on track & a little touchy at tree but sure was a coontreeer that needed No Help / 1 was a Close hunter & a Great Pleasure hound / the other 4 were all Good strike dogs & Good hunters / I can not think of any that jacked or chewed a tree / just Strait up Treedogs / all had Good mouths but could be a little squeaky at a young age but would end up with a decent mouth / not real bad about being trashy & Real Good about having a Raccoon / My Anny female off Moose & Spice has been a Good one to me both hunting & breeding !

I have hunted 3 females off Zeb Again & 2 of them could live at my house Anytime / What I have seen / 2 were a little peculiar at the tree when I 1st started hunting them they both would come way back to meet you & go right back to tree & I found the more they were hunted they quit coming off tree & stayed tight / I did not whip or shock them for it / 1 would climb a tree / one I only hunted a couple times & she did not stay treed But I know she ended up in a good place & the last I heard she was coming around ! All 3 Good Hard hunters & 2 were Click them off Treedogs with a mouth you could hear ! 2nd / 3rd & sometimes 1st strike dogs / LONERS & 1 was Extreme at it Cut the dogs left & she was going right ! I like the Zeb Again females & Need to get me one !

I have hunted 1 male off Zeb Again & Why I let that hound leave my house I am not sure lol Big / Loud / Get Struck / Go Hunting / Coon Hound / I only turned him loose 3 times = 3 Raccoons & he was Sold !

I hunted 1 male off HellBilly & I like him Should be a Good future ahead for him & his owners !

I also got to hunt a Young one off Wipeout Willy & she was a Nice female go hunting Get struck & Stayput treedog with a Good mouth / one of the better young hounds I have hunted but I believe she died young

This line will do some trailing But not a bunch of backtracking like some other lines I have seen / They will tree empty some but most the ones I have seen are Good about having them coons ! Patience goes with this line !

Like Marcus said call the guys he has mentioned !

Good Luck with your Zeb 3 pup keep um in the woods & in Good company !

Good Hunting
