8 generations later..what are we doing wrong?
The start river bend flag...bred to a good beanblossum female to produce atkins hard rock(gr.nt and 7th pkc world) bred to a coon treeing female of local heritage to produce roachs duchess( 2 time futurity champion and one of the first gold champions) bred to a stylish bloodlines male to produce the ladyhawke dog (split futurity one year)bred to the timber rattler dog when he was in north carolina to produce the hawk dog(outstanding in some dept but weak in others) but reproduced took him to a wild clyde female and produced the sampson dog( gr.nt pkc money) bred old sampson to a tony epps female and reproduced my current female named princess(has her first and pkc money) then bred her to a direct son of rat. A male pup from this cross has started turning the crank.8 generations of outcrosses and the dogs are doing the same things treeing raccoons ...Many thanks to the trainers jerry roach, paul atkins, tony clevinger and wayne roark..Its been a ride
..not the flavor of the month but consistency..thanks for reading!!!

The whole litter or just one pup?
The hawk dogs name was Timberhawk...has his neck broken running a coon one night finished the track with a coon but never got to be pushed after that..short lifespan..He was bred to a few females most notably producing a grand nite female that reproduced Mr.Smith...pretty good branch of offspring..

There were good pups in most all the litters and some culls..The ones these boys kept that I listed as trainers could break one from every litter..They have that knack

This last outcross is to a rat male that we hunted in pkc alot..He has won about 9200.00 but never pushed in many hunts..Bred him to an outside female that wouldnt look up if the sky is falling..She produced a couple of good ones also so we decided to breed him to three gyps with our similar breeding and it looks like he is going to reproduce..The oldest male pup is close to being ready..Not but two survived from this litter so we made the cross again..She had ten this time so time will tell.thanks for reading!

Outcrossing can be done with good results. It just takes a few things such as good stock to begin with, good selection, and getting the dogs into the right hands.
Anymore getting a dog into the right hands is as important as any of the steps.

Larry you hit the nail on the head..Everybody is breeding to the next big thing getting pups and penning them just imagine if these pups got woods time..Coondawgs would out supply the demand :0)...we messed with some 6 month old pups this morning that i thought did a very good job...

I KNOW IN MY OPINION WHAT ALOT ARE DOING WRONG.
THEY ARE FOCUSING TO MUCH ON THE ALMIGHT $, AND HOW TO MAKE IT RAISING AND SELLING HOUNDS, AND THEY ARE NOT FOCUSING ENOUGH ON BREEDING HOUNDS ON AND FOR THEIR ABILITIES AND NOT JUST STRICTLY ON THEIR PEDIGREES.
PEDIGREES USED TO BE USED AS A BREEDING TOOL. NOW THEY ARE JUST USED AS A MONEY RACKET.
GO AHEAD AND LYNCH ME, CAUSE IT'S MY OPINION AND IT WONT CHANGE FOR A WHILE.

Christy,
Actually pedigrees are one of the least reliable breeding tools available to breeders. Canine breeding author Malcomb B. Willis states the best result you can hope for utilizing just pedigrees is about 8% success. There are much better breeding tools to use.
