I feed too many dogs to use it. Cant afford the price. That said all protien isnt equal. IF the ingredients say chicken or chicken by products they well could be using feathers to up the protien. Chicken feathers are protien but ARENT digestible.

I use it. Hounds quit eating the Diamond on me and started looking bad so I switched to Purina Dog Chow. They all look good again. As far as price goes Walmart has a 48lb. bag for $21.00.

I used to feed it all the time. hound stayed good and fat. about a year ago the color and smell of the feed semed to change, my old hound would turn his nose up at it.

I don't think so but if it is it's a lot different than any of the Purina brand feeds. I tried it and did not like it at all. Way too much mess and dogs didn't look all that great or eat it all that well.

I feed it most the year. I feed it more as a maintenance feed than anything.

I feed it to the older dogs that seldom get hunted hard. I feed it to young dogs that aren't getting hunted hard enough.

If I take 1 dog and really hunt it down, Dog Chow doesn't seem to be enough and I typically switch to a Lamb & Rice or a performance type feed, typically in the early summer and early fall.

In the coldest winter months, I typically switch to something else as well. Usually a 26/18 feed, not sure if I need to, I just do.

I think the average coonhunter that hunts a dog a couple nights a week would find Purina Dog Chow to be a great feed for them.

Posted by Steffan Kichta on 01-02-2011 01:12 PM:

It works alot better than the ingredients suggest........

I know a few HARD hunters that feed it.

I have to mix it with something higher fat during the winter months to keep weight on.

dog chow

I feed dog chow and have had good luck. Tried some other feeds and wasn't happy. Also if you collect the weight circles you can get the Purina Checks to use.

Ive alot better results with dog chow than blackgold OR diamond..diamond is all corn and sucks. Black gold makes my dogs have the $h!ts...and their stool would even look like corn..dog chow had good stool

Posted by jamie stall on 01-02-2011 02:30 PM:

the diamond im feeding has no corn...
