pup training

I have a 12 month old pup that I have been working with. I"ve shown him one caged coon he was aggressive towards the coon. He's been out with the older dogs a few times but hasn't treed. Well tonight at about 5 pm I put my trap out and went home at 7:30 pm and stopped in to just look at the trap and it had a coon in it. Should I use it with the pup, if so what should I do.

Thanks

pup

wouldnt hurt to get him worked up then i would take the coon to where it has to run to get to a tree like a open field back away from yhe wood line have someone hold dog back and turn coon loose let it get a start then turn dog loose if he trees it shootit out that will build his cofidce then he knows if he gets one treed he gets a coon i never did fool to much with a gaged coon on a pup just enough to get them to know what acoon is jmo everybody does thier training differnt
