maybe should think twice

about hunting tonight. if a dog gets injured tonight, where would you take it? all the vets are closed, including the emergency vets. it could also be a problem getting help if the person had a problem.

My personal choice is to not hunt tonight. Tomorrow night I will hunt if the weather permits.

To the animals tonight is just another night. To us, it's the night we celebrate Jesus being sent to us to to lead us to God.

I won't hunt Christmas eve or Christmas. only did it once a few years back. Dog got into a porky and decided to kill it. Quills everywhere. We pulled all we could but he had them down his throat and all thru his mouth. Had to get the vet out of christmas eve services to pull quills. was not pretty. he wasn't even my vet. the vets in the area take turns being on call and it was his turn. lucky him. cost me a fortune. never again. i figured it was someone telling me that you just don't hunt christmas eve or christmas.

I hunted Christmas night, treed twice and saw 4 coons. Was back home by 9:30.

We've had around 6 inches of snow today and the high tomorrow is 34 deg. so I don't know when I'll hunt again. Our coons are not used to snow.

if we had only 6 inches of snow i'd be out every night. up here before christmas we got close to 5 feet of snow. even with snowshoes couldn't get out in the woods.

I am sure glad that it is your personal preference as you have stated. I believe a lot of this thread is based on superstition. If I believed in superstition rather than Christ I could come up with a reason not to hunt most any night. Or plant peas on Dark nights.

Sometime the new versus the "old" makes sense. Especially when it comes to testaments. LOL. Glad you had a great hunt Christmas Night.
