Treeing Question

I have a real nice female that will blow the top out of a tree, until you get to the tree, then about 85% of the time she will stop treeing and stand there and look at you. She is a 2 year old that can drive a track with an outstanding mouth.I have been told that I have gave her 2 many coons and she is waiting for the gun to go off. WHAT AREYOUR THOUGHT. on fixing this small problem.

Heck, as long as she`s barking until you get there thats perfect. Easier shining a tree without the dogs barking their heads off!

Thats a bad problem that is hard to fix, usually they have to be culled. Want to sell her?

Nothing wrong with that. Shows she knows shes done her job.

i wish mine did this

i wish all my dogs did that........ if ya ask me , there isnt a thing wrong with what she is doing. If she is doing a nice job and staying hooked until you get there and tie her. you couldnt ask for much more. Sounds like she is confident, knows she has a coon and is waitin for it to hit the ground

who cares ....if you get to the tree and stops who cares, to me that dog is being smart and if it is hot out then it wont get over heated, i see no problem at all and wish all mine would do it

had a hound that would stop treeing when he saw your light getting close. turned out he was just sitting down and waiting to be handled. he would start treeing again after he was tied. it was a problem in the hunts, judges wanted to start the 2 or claim he left the tree.
when ever he stopped treeing when we got close we stopped and sat down untill he started treeing again. we would procede to the tree only when he started treeing again. it only took a couple weeks for him to figure out what we wanted.

i have one like that now. don't bother me. he is a great tree dog and lets them go until you get to him. he will bark every now and then but not much once you at the tree, suites me fine

Its from too many coons shot to her..Its not a big deal til your on a comp hunt and walking through thick undercover then when you get right up on her then she stops barking and the judge runs the 2 minute rule on you and you get minused..

my old easy ace dog would not bark after i got to trees. you could have 5 people walking around a tree looking for a coon & he'd be watching who ever had the gun. when they put the gun up to shoot he'd turn & watch up the tree for a coon to fall out. only time he'd bark up after you got to tree is when i put a leash on him to leave the tree if didnt shoot a coon.

treeing

i dont see nothing wrong with it as long as she trees till you get there i never did the hunts so that wouldnt bother me a bit like others say she waiting on you to shoot the coon out she still young might get over that but probly not have you tried working her up on the tree i use to pat the tree with my hand with a young dog getting started tell get on tree that shows them you want them to keep barking tree even if you are at the tree shinning it jmo

THE DOG THAT GOT ME FIRED UP ABOUT COON HUNTING 20 YEARS AGO WAS JUST LIKE THAT. I WISH I HAD ONE JUST LIKE HER NOW.

i have heard some of the old hunter around here talk about
wanting dogs like this when there was no running season
they made them shut up after they got to the tree.bull will
come and stand by me when i start shooting and watch
for it to fall that i know i done when he was a pup i would
take him to where he could see it fall.

i like dogs that shut up when hunting comp the 1 female i was hunting would be split 95% the time she might tree 110 barks a min . but there was times she treed like that for 30 min by time you get to #1 dogs tree shine 10 min then walk back to where she was and possibly shine another 10 min in summer time thats hard on a dog

shut up is good with me

Don't, it's not a problem. People talk about shooting out to many coon but what do you think the hide hunters do? Just tie your dog back to a tree at the edge of the umbrela of the tree the coon is in. Just becouse you shoot it out doesn't mean you have to let the dog have it.
The coon falls between it and the tree which make the dog still stay focused on the tree.

i would thank if it was much of a kill dog it would be focused
on the coon.i know most dogs will shut up for a split sec.
and listen for the coon to fall after a shot.

My female trees every breath until you get to her. Once you're there she will get (I believe where the coon went up) and just stare. She sticks her tail out like a point dog and doesn't move an inch unless you tell her to get up on the tree. The only thing I like about it is it saves energy on those hot summer nights when sometimes I shine a tree for several minutes. I will be having pups out of her within the next several months. Let me knoe if you'd like one. Hickory Nutt Harry on both sides If I breed to Mojo.

I have a year old English male that is the same-will bark every breath til you put the lead on him then he just looks up the tree as if waiting for the coon to fall out.
