What club do you belong to?
Thanks

I want to make a couple suggestions at the State Coon Hunters annual meeting on Jan. 29, 2011 at Sullivan Mo. that might increase membership.
Basically I'm trying to find out why an individual doesn't join a state association.
Like to hear more!

I have just heard about it this year, I checked the website and found out that they already have hunt points for 2011 even though it is still 2010. I would have thought that it would have started January in 2011. But plan to attend the meeting to find out more information for myself.
Mo.C.H. Fed. Pts.
THE POINTS GO FROM St. hunt to St. ht. the St. ht is in aug. , Pts. start the 1st of Sept. and go to St. Hunt. That is the way Its always been.'
As far as I know the St. Assn. doesn't have a pt. series, except they are members of the Fed.
The Mo. Fed. is 1 of the strongest org. in the counrty.
Go to ( www. mchf.biz) and see what you think.
I think they have about 330 or so members. Look at the web site.

I don't belong to either one of them, but our club Mussell Fork CHA is a MCHF club. I hate the fact that we have 2 groups in the state plus the Mo Sporting Dog Assoc. (which I do belong to due to an incident they helped me with). If we only had one assoc that covered the entire state we would have a larger membership and stronger voice in Jeff City.
I have tried to get a response from all 3 Assoc. on a proposal to take to the MDC rules committee and except for an initial contact I made a few months ago I have heard nothing. Doesn't leave me with a very good impression.

Good responses, keep them coming!
I'm sure officers from both organizations will see your comments and answer your questions.
(That is why I posted this thread.)
Personally I belong to both and will continue to support both because I want to participate in both of their major hunts.
Both have websites that have information about their organizations. Check them out.

MCHF is a great organization that supports coonhunters and is very into promoting youth into the sport of connhunting. They also give out a great prize package at the spring hunt, youth hunt, state hunt and the end of the year hunt. In my opinion the end of the year hunt is the best prize package around. They also have incentives for hunting throughout the year. I am a board member and would be glad to talk to anyone if they have any questions. The state coonhunters is located mostly south of me and I have very little info about it but I am sure they are a good organization as well.
not to much in our area, in the northwest. But We have made dontations in the past to the state youth hunt/show.

Thank You Mike !!! I sure try hard and it is a tough job!! I am the President of the State Coonhunters of Mo and PROUD OF IT!!! We do have a point system and a year end hunt called " The Show-Me Showdown" that is held the first Sat in Dec. (when the leaves are off) that we try to give away great prizes at. It will be held at the Ironton club in 2011. We would love to get more clubs to join our Assn. Your club can affilate with the State Coonhunters Of Missouri for an annual fee of $20 and all of your sanctioned hunts will be Showdown points hunts. If you or your club would like to join or just would like more info on our great assn please feel free to call or email me at any time. (573)694-4332 or stillkickin@peoplepc.com
Now as far as the Missouri Coonhunters Federation (MCHF) this is another great organization. I am a member of this also and chase their point series also. I encourage you to join both assns. they are both after the same goal and that is the betterment of our sport and protecting out hunting rights. For more info on the MCHF contact Tom Wilbers (573)694-0111 Thank You and Happy Holidays

I belong to both associations this year. I have been a state member for several years and just became a member of the Federation this past Spet.
By the time that the year is over I'm usually a member of several clubs that are both MO State and MO Fed affiliated.
Ironton, Marble Hill, Patton, Daisy, Kinder, Vienna, Dixon, Salem, Bourbon, St. Clair, Desoto, Potosi, Patterson, and any other club I have forgot or I end up at by the time the year is up LOL
Harry this could be a good thing, and I have a couple suggestions that I want to bring up at the meeting as well.
On the behalf of the Ozark Coon Club in Ironton, MO we are proud to be able to host the 2011 Show Me Show Down and have a few ideas rolling around in hopes of making this the best Show Down that has been put on so far.

Mudcreek,
Who is MDC?
I seen where you wanted to take a proposal to them but you haven't heard back from any of the 3 organizations.
State Coon Hunter's President Chris Frieberger (Wormy) has a post on this thread with his phone number and I know he would be more than happy to discuss it with you.
Final thought, I disagree with your assessment that it would be better if there was only one association in the state. Having two organizations forces them to constantly improve their product and that benefits you. Another bonus, when you write to your State Representative for issues pertaining to hunting it is a plus when you say BOTH organizations agree on this issue. BOTH gets their attention!
I will belong to both because it is in my best interest. The two association fees are probably one of the best investments you can make today.
Thanks for your response.

MDC is the MO Dept of Conservation.
I have gotten a note from Tom Wilburs after this post.
Tom,
I appreciate that.

I too belong to both organizations. I think both organizations work hard to please their members and a lot of members work hard to make the organizations what they are.
Hey Wormy isn't the state allowing federation points at their hunts, and the federation allowing state points at their hunts this year? For those chasing the points it might be worth while attending hunts for both organizations. You would have more opportunities to earn points that way. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Make sure to attend a meeting if you want something changed or need to voice your opinion on something. Or volunteer to help at a hunt. I have never seen a volunteer get turned away yet.
Merry Christmas
Bob Helton
That is correct Bob, you will be able to earn Showdown points at the MCHF's State UKC hunts and their Spring Classic and you will recive MCHF points at the Missouri State UKC Championship and Shriners Bennifit Hunt in 2011.

My boys and I are also members of both organizations. I feel both organizations do a wonderful job representing the coonhunters of this State. Especially enjoy all the emphasis on the youth as they are the future of this great sport. Chris does an excellent job as president of the state. Although I dont know the pres.of federation , Tom Wilbers, did an excellent job at all the MCHF events we participated in this year.It takes more than the two of you to make it all work. But strong leadership helps. Keep up the good jobs fellas ! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL !
Chuck
I'm glad these organizations watch out for coon hunters interest in the state government and let them know that alot of coon hunters VOTE too... Thanks.

Thank you Chuck!! Chuck is right, it is a tough job and two people cant do it alone. Weather you are a member of the MCHF or the State Coonhunters or both we need your help and ideas to make our assns. stronger, and yes the youth are our future and from what I have seen we have a fine bunch of young men and weomen coming through the ranks of our great sport. Please join us at our annual meeting in Jan. and cast your vote for what you think is right. I would love to serve as your 2011 State president I have alot of ideas that will take time to put into effect and there are alot of rules that have been changed already. So if your not busy join us the last Sat. in Jan. for a great dinner and eventful meeting!!!
