the good and bad
the good and bad about the tracker maxima and tracker classic thanks
?
i got the tracker maxima 5000. i live where its up an down, an i really like it does a good job can keep up with em good. i bear hunt so they leave the country on me an it still keeps a beep! if they get to far gone i pull out the wildlife 1000 find em every time! but the ideal thing seams to be the garmin gps its so slick an simple. an out does alot of the rest. but where u live the tracker would do a awesome job ive hunted down in fl does great their!

Here is my idea of the bad. Telemetry systems loose half their value the minute you buy a new one. Don't believe me? Sink about 600 or so dollars in a new one and a couple of collars and try to resale it the next day!
Garmins wont hit you on a loss quite as bad.
If you can find a used telemetry system someone is taking a loss on, that is the way to go but you could not force me to buy a new telemetry system with collars now that the Garmin is taking over the market.
thank to all that replieded, just to many problems with the garmin at this time for me
I agree with you on the garmin, i have a classic and a wildlife and i use the tracker all the time because you can carry it with you. i really like mine. havent lost a dog yet, tou can find some nice used ones on here .

What problems? Most problems seem to be cockpit error to me, that is not Garmin's fault.

Dang....I cant set the clock on a VCR, but I figured out the Garmin in a few minutes. They're pretty simple..Turn them on and look at the screen.
Seriously..if you can operate a Computer, login to a website, and post on a talk forum, the Garmin should be SIMPLE.

I don't own a tracker but my hunting buddy does. I have seen it in action a lot, and I don't like the receiver. You can't pin point your dog like a quick track. I like tracker collars though, but the receiver is less than desirable.
My opinion quick track is the best receiver of the beep beeps. And with everyone wanting garmins now, you should be able to find a quick track system pretty cheap.

I see you live Ga. I don't know what the terrain is like where you live, but I don't think a GPS system will work where I hunt.
My Garmin legend GPS I use to get me back to the truck only works intermittently at best. So i'm not taking the chance on loosing a dog on a GPS tracking system that works off the same satellites. So i'm sticking with my beep beep...

I have a quick track just to big and bulky to carry in the woods. the tracker classic or maxima I think maybe the way to go
THE TRACKERS ARE EASY TO CARRY BUT YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT AS WELL AS THE QUICK TRACK. THEY ARE WAY MORE SENSETIVE THAN THE QUICK TRACK AND YOU WILL NOT GET THE PINPOINT ACCURACY LIKE THE QUICK TRACK.
