Ohio coonhunting and deer gun season!!!

I was just wondering how many of you that live in Ohio put the hounds away for the week of deer gun season. I always do because I'm afraid to loose one and then someone the next day shooting the dog. Not to mention all the nice fresh gut piles in the woods.

None of my dogs get turned loose during the gun seasons. There's too many people out there that would pop'm for running "their" deer.

MY DOG STAY IN KENNEL

Longest week of the year. aways seems to be good weather but there is no way i'll turn them loose. Way to many out of towners that camp and hunt around here that don't know anything about coonhounds! Some of the places that i hunt don't want me to hunt this week also. Don't want to go to jail if someone shoots or takes my hounds!

no need to take the week off if you have coondogs

Posted by Geminite on 12-02-2010 02:53 AM:

It's not the coondogs we're worried about, it's the gun crazed deer hunters out there that will shoot anything that moves, including people.

There are also lots of gut piles out there, not all dogs are perfect and are gonna find lots of nasties out there to roll in and eat. So I'll just take this week to relax.

I was going tonight till this little snow storm came along. I'm not much afraid of loosing my dog. Have not lost a hound since I bought a tracking system. Now that I own a garmin it's darn near impossible to loose one hear in SE Ohio, that is of course so long as they don't run junk.

Think I'll try it tomorrow night just to see how the coon are moving just in case I want to try that mini slam at Carrol on Saturday night. I hear there is another snow storm slated to hit again this weekend so I might not get to take that hunt in either

Nothing better than a dog rolling in a half rotten gut pile and then eating a little!!! Wonder why a dog does that just don't make sense to me!!

deer season in michigan is way to long. I dont dare hunt during rifle season in fear of someone hunting the landowners property bitching about me on it and losing that spot, it about seems that the only time they will let you hunt is during the closed season, go figure

Chewbach

Chewbach, now thats some funny stuff. You an I both know mine and Richard's dogs are the wrong color to catch all the coon here around glouster.

We have saved one or two to run so that when you come down we can take a little hunt. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Oh yes, I got a pretty speckled pup that would sure fired make you a wonderful christmas present. Why you can even bleach him out so he is the right color for you.

LOL- just kidding!!! Take Care my friend, Good to hear from you!!

they get plenty of rest during gun season. to many hammerheads out there and to much money in these hounds. usally i dont have any problems with the bow and muzzeloader hunters they know what they are doing. People loose their minds during shotgun season, they think its their private utopia and how dare you walk thru my woods! they show their stupidity when they drive across a feild at 12 am and yell at you because you are molesting their morning hunt. ( I have permission and the guy yelling at me and my daughter is not the land owner) O well I say baby its entertainmemt. keep em fat and warm.
