Question about pup training.

Ive got a plott pup that just turned 8 months old. Hes pretty good on track, but alittle slow. He goes hunting on his on or with other dogs. If I run him with an older dog he will be at the tree, but he wont tree. Hes off milling around. Ive had him to tree 1 coon by his self which was a short race. He probably bout tripped across it. Ive had him out several times since then he will run some, but never tree. Dont know if hes looking for another 1 minute race or what.

He dont wanna tree with other dogs, but the one that he treed on his on he was treeing his heart out. Hes not good enough on track to hunt by his self, so whats next? Dont know if he wants to be independant or what.

plott pup

at 8 months old he's still very young!.from the sounds of it..he's doing very well.make sure when u get to the tree,u immediately tie him up at the tree.then praise to get him to tree.it may take sometime for him to understand what he needs to do at the tree.but from the sound of it..in no time he should be coming around with some patience on your end.good luck.
