-- Which WORLD CHAMP would you breed to? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=388170)

Posted by Priscilla Hooks on 11-22-2010 01:06 AM:

Which WORLD CHAMP would you breed to?

If you had a female you wanted to breed and wanted to breed her to a dog who has won the WORLD NITE HUNT which one would you pick and why?

The female we have in mind is a very nice dog. She doesn't have a big mouth and that is the only thing we would pick about her to improve on. She is cold nosed, hard tree dog and accurate.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Priscilla

Pick the one that'll bring something to the table that she lacks or needs improved. Also consider how compatible their bloodlines are and check into similar crosses. I wouldn't think of breeding to a dog for the sole reason of it being a world champ. Need to think about what could better the breed as a whole. JMO

That is why I am asking people for the opinions..........I know nothing about the dogs that have won the world.........I only know my female......So I am asking people who know the dogs which one they would breed to and why. Being a world champ is just a bonus!

Nelson's Northern Buck II if I had to breed to any of them simply because he's the only B&T.

Something else to consider to give you more options. Look at what won world and what came in second and third. Then take a look at there age. If a 10 year old won and a 2 year old came in second which would you breed to?

This is just my opinion.. . . . . But I wouldn't be askin for others opinions on what to breed ole sally too. Haha. Jus saying. You wouldn't ask others opinions on who dates ur daughter would you?? No way. I would look at what one is more your style of dog and what his pups are like

Well actually I am trying to find out about the dogs out there.....what their traits, characteristics, etc.....but no one seems to be answering that. If they would then I could pick the dog that I think best compliments mine............Oh well......shoulda known better than to ask!

There is a real nice son of Big D right here in the same town as me! Maybe I'll just go that route. I know I like the dog and have heard nothing but great things about him.

Sorry for asking such a stupid question GUYS.............

Priscilla

why not look at the only one that has won 2

Good point but it would still depend on what age he won them. A 4-10 year old winning twice still wouldn't impress me as much as a 2 year old doing it once. One is experience and the other is breeding and good handleing in my opinion.

ok name me another dog that has backed up his title
in the history?dont get me wrong i would take any of them.

Posted by Okie Dawg on 11-23-2010 03:57 AM:

I don't know and not saying anything bad about any of them. I am just saying a young dog winning impress's me a lot more than a old dog with a lot of experience behind it. A young dog doing it shows more natural ability to me and natural is what I would look for to breed to.

I hunted with Bid D and have a Big D pup. They have mouth to spare. My pup is louder than his Daddy was. I think the Big D pups will need a very dedicated and very competant trainer, they are not gonna be a good thing for a biginning pup trainer. They have already shown their abilty to be winners at a young age, just a little hard to handle along the way. I hunted with and bred my bitch to Mr Clean. He is more my style.

Pac man, X jr, Insane cane hasn't won the world but is throwing some good early starting pups. How is your female bred? Take her breding and see what crosses have turned out good..
