I use a product called Krowtann 2000. I originally bought it to tan a deer hide. I had so much left over so I ended up using the Krowtann on 3 fox, a coyote, and my little cousin's first coon. The instructions are easy to follow, and the steps are not hard at all. However, when the hide drys it drys hard. I put my hides on a wire stretcher to dry. It is easier to remove the hide, once dry, this way than off of a wooden one. If you want the hide to be flexible, this is NOT what you want to use. Hope this helps and good hunting.

the best tan you can get on a coon hide is a brain tan. it's easy, doesn't cost a nickel, and lasts just as long as a hide tanned with all those chemicals. just go on youtube and look up brain tanning. I've tanned dozens of hides with this method and you can't tell the difference between brain tanned hides and commercially done ones. It's by far the best way to go.
