Dot is gone
On Saturday November 6 at about 3pm Kenny's Night Heat Dot passed away. She was only 7 1/2 years old. She and Rocky Ketterman had been to the world hunt several times. On Friday November 5, 2010 she did not eat at feeding time. This was unlike Dot. On Saturday morning she ate a hot dog and seem to be alittle better but still not acting like herself. Rocky called the vet and he was out of the office but would come in in a few hours for an office call. The vet called back a few hours later and Rocky took Dot to the vet which was only 2 miles away. She was riding in the back seat like she loved to do so much. Just as we were pulling into the vet's parking lot she layed her head over on Rocky's lap and died. She had no symptoms except not eating and acting like she had arthritis. She had to have had a heart attack as fast a she went with no shaking or yelping or anything. It was so sudden. Dot was a member of the Ketterman family and just as happy inside laying on the sofa which she had done many times. She was hunted not only by Rocky but by his son Dakota who won a college scholarship with her and this year Rocky's daughter went to the Youth Nationals with Dot.
Dot will be missed very much and very hard if not impossible to replace.
sounds like she had a good life , good luck to you and your family
OMG So sorry to hear this. If my suspicion is correct, this is the little female I had the good fortune of judging at the UKC world hunt finals on a thursday night when it was held in Nort West Illinios a couple years back.
If so, I can tell you, she was one fine coonhound. Of course, you folks already knew this. I could tell she had that something extra that you don't find in 98% of most dogs you hunt with.
I hope you have something out of her to carry on her legacy. If you are like me you will be comparing dogs to her for years to come.
Again I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys. Rocketman you are correct. It is the dog that you judged in IL. I remember because that is one of the greatest hunts I was in. You were so polite and you were an excellant judge.
Thanks Hardy I will be up soon.

We know just how you feel. Just a couple of weeks back my wife and I had to say goodbye to our Ch Nite Ch Nolan Creek Thundering Apache. There was no way I could stop the tears as I laid her in her final resting place.
I hope you have some of her pups to carry her memeries. We have two pens full of Apache's great grand babies.

Thanks to all of you. It is still hard to understand but life does go on. She was a wonderful hunting dog and friend. She was the dog of Ron Kenny that was breed to Pay Dirt. We have a pup out of her that does real good. He is crazy for bear and was hunted in the zones this year. He has only been hunted in a few hunts.
SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS

Jerry, Yes that little Dot female sure did show us she was all coondog. I really liked her. It is an absolute treasured memory to watch a hound of Dot's calibur, operate at the top of her game, when the best of the best come together like they do at the world finals.
WV AnyColor, thank you for your kind words. That cast was full of some of the finest sportsmen, and dedicated hard core competition hunters, that this sport has to offer. It was you all, the competitors, that made that cast so very memoriable for us all.
Again, I wish you all the very best of success, but know how hard it is when loosing a dog of Dot's calibur.
Take Care!!!

I am sorry to hear about your dog. I have been threw it with several dogs in my life and it never gets easier when you loose a great one. It is really hell on the kids. I know words don't work and only time can heal but know others do care and watch the kids well for a while.
Did the vet know what it was she had?
