6pm entry deadline for a friday night hunt?

i think its complete BS. why dont we just let the club hand out the win slips to who they want to and be done with the farce.

When do you want to hunt 4 hours after dark.

Most people work Tyler, well (not many coon hunters actually work LOL) but the ones that do can't make a 6 p.m. deadline.

I am a school teacher so my day ends earlier than most but it would be hard if not impossible for me to make a 6pm deadline at either of the two closest clubs to me.

7 is a good deadline.

Posted by nccoonhunter3 on 11-12-2010 05:21 PM:

that even give deer hunters time to get out of the woods during deer season.

When I see a deadline like that I'm thinking that is a club that does not want entries. They want to title the club dogs without competition.
That may or may not be the actual case but that is certainly the impression I get from a 6:00PM weeknite deadline.

Yep can't stand that either!

I knew a club like that. They would have 3:30 shows and 6 o clock hunts on Friday. Needless to say that club is no longer

i drove 2 hrs to hunt assuming draw out was at 8 (every other club was) . followed directions that was in the book. i said 1 mile east of town. it was seven miles. i even tried to get there early just in case.. when i looked at the book for the ph # i noticed it was at 7. the time was 7:02 , i didnt even bother calling.

i should have looked at the book a little better.

800 should be the earliest so usguys that work can make it, but like he said there friends can finish there digs that way.what is the reason for 7 oclock anyway

Posted by Buckshot on 11-12-2010 10:55 PM:

I went to a hunt one time with 6pm deadline on a Saturday night...........when I had asked why deadline was at 6pm, club president said he was a preacher and needed to be home early to get some sleep because of Sunday Worship Services.

Only problem was sun wasn't going down until another couple hours.

Posted by jamie stall on 11-12-2010 11:18 PM:

thats stupid its not about hurrying up to get home its about the dogs and having fun, the beagle trials do that and i hate it , if guys cant get away from there wifes for that long they need a new hobby, maybe basket wea ving or needle point .

Posted by tree_dogs on 11-12-2010 11:49 PM:

deadline

How can club members make it either , they work also !!!! I don't think it is for club members dogs , it is for the times of darkness !!! Most of the time people that gripe the most are ones that have never help put on a hunt in their life !!

Good to know that I am not the only one that thinks that a 6:00 deadline is crazy on a friday night. I even work an early shift and cant make it to the clubs that have hunts that early.

Posted by Clay Lautzenhiser on 11-13-2010 12:44 AM:

Heck there is a Major Event being held in the south (another KC) that has 6:00 deadlines Fri and Sat according to the flyer. I just don't get it. If you are afraid to hunt your dogs against the best possible competition then why have the dog?

I hunted in a Basset Field Trial a couple weekends back where deadline was 6am, LOL, I prefer the 7am deadlines, but I would rather rabbit field trial in the morning than late afteroon.

if you think the delines are wrong joint the club and get them to change the time. all the clubs would love to have the help.

like someone else said. the ones who complain the most "never help put on a show and hunt."

I wish the hunts were only an hour long, then you could have later deadlines and get home earlier!!! All problems solved!
