Possible Strike Collar Fix.

I have recently joined the ranks of the "Collar Thumpers".
Those poor individuals who have spent more than their fair share of time beating Strike collars against trees, bumpers, tailgates, the ground, their heads, and any and all other hard surfaces in an attempt to get these blasted things to stay on.
I was messing with mine this morning in an attempt to evaluate whether both my collars were bad or if I had gotten some bad batteries.
I put a new battery in one and tightened the cover down.I then commenced to smack it against various objects within reach in hopes that one of them would have the proper density required to activate the collar.
Finally giving up in disgust I started unscrewing the cover screw.
To my surprise I noticed the light started blinking when I had the screw partially backed out.I tightened the screw back down and the light quit blinking, hmmmmmm.
I took the cover off and took a closer look.
O.K.,I got a little springy pin that sticks out of the collar that makes contact with a small brass circle on the battery cover.
The small brass circle has a coated strip that connects it to the big spring that makes contact with the battery.
I took a small wet stone and roughed up the big spring that contacts the battery.I also roughed up the end of the little springy pin with the wet stone.
Then I roughed up the little brass circle with a small flat screwdriver.
Both collars seem to be working great now.

BTW,I have noticed that one of my collars don't always blink, but it is still transmitting,so before you waste time trying to get the light on you may want to see if it is transmitting.
