Tried something new!

My friend Mike Cattron from Indiana came up for a coon hunt brought a Treeing Feist so I could try it. The dog is owned by Has Reynolds is a GRSQCH and Mike hunts him for Has. It was raining steady, cold and miserable and squirrels were not moving good (midday) but we had to try it. Elmo treed me four and I managed to shoot three! You should see that little dog scan, scent, and tree! It is so different from coon hunting! Mike also brought along two 12 week Mountain Feists he bought out of Michigan to get us started! Here is a wet me and Elmo and three drowned tree rats!!!

Same here thats why Mike and I decided to get into it! We don't have fox squirrels but loaded with grays! It is fun and action packed! They listen and scan for movement, scent the current on ridges and tree by scent and sight! If a squirrel limbs out they follow! They will circle the tree to get the squirrel to move! It was a blast! Mike picked up two females out of Michigan that are a little leggier for the snow and are 3 generation all grand SQCH and Show CH I will start training them soon!

i hunt squirrel and coon. i love both. i find that squirrel hunting is more delightful. it's day time. you can see what your dog is doing. you don't need a light. you can do a lot of shooting. you not likely to get lost. you can eat what you kill and like it. the problem is, when the leaves come on, forget it. you're not going to find any squirrels even if the dog trees them. besides, it's illegal.

I was told I was showing my age by gettin into the squirrell huntin the guy said it was for the baby boomer generation!! But it is fun and I'm looking forward to that spell in Dec/Jan/Feb when coon aren't movin and the tree rats are!LOL!

Make sure you take Mike up on it Jim! He is a good man! And Elmo is a great little dog!!
