chronicles update

from tonight, snuck out into the woods behind my house. had to sneak, ole man didnt want me working the deer up for his am hunt. i always go to bed in the same general area, what the heck, they'll come back. my dogs, are wonders of the world, noone got worked up, even when i banged the gun barrell off of the screen door sneaking. since i know the woods well, i turned the light out. i kept skeet on the leash because my one neighbor has a thousand cats. go figure. and those dogs a tails were a waggin and they were whining. quietly, as i must say.
there is a certain respect you have when you can trust your dogs in different situations.
my back is killin me. maybe skeet put it back in place , being drug around the woods and puckerbrush.lol. afraid to go to far because of all the archery hunters. neighbors, husband. but, none the less, we hit the corn pile. omg. did that pup try to turn me into a human sled. i tripped, fell and he was still draggin me. good grief. we were only out for about an hour, but let me tell you, he knew what i was lookin for. he went to the swamp where i dumped an ole coon hide two months ago. he took me to the trees where i had ever put a hide in. i shouldve trusted him and turned him loose, it was like he was tellin me, hey mom, it'll be alright. i will get em.
but i didnt. kept him on lead. he did learn how to walk before we were done, and so did I.lol
i did something that was the coolest thing i ever did. turned the light out in the middle of the woods, on the bottom, by the creek. i listened. we both did. it was cool. i smelled, like no tomorrow, never smelled anything so sweet as autumn leaves. never felt so comfortable.
i figured a couple things out, and people will go against me. just human nature.
the unknown, is the scariest. whether it be land or sea.
i know that pup is relying on the light sometimes. no kidding. all the times we were out
he is entering a different period of his little life. where the pup that can take all and not be afraid, all of a sudden, is looking around going, what the heck was that?
turn the light out. and it is the coolest thing ever. no garmin, just a leash.
now, i figure, like tonight, he has comforted me by being there and i him.
and his tail still wagged.
it's funny what you can see in the dark.
nothing is scary. tonight. lol.
skeet and i are entering another chapter. he is getting older. things are changing.
I BETTER KEEP UP.

autumn is the sweetest smelling season which requires no flowers to be enjoyed.

tomorrow is another day, and me and my pup figured something out. i love him, and him me.

i have been waiting on this day, when he paid attention to me along with all the smells and cool stuff.

nose to the ground, only dragging me when necessary after our walk was almost done. i was happy to be drug.

we are definately gonna be a force to be reckoned with. guaranteed.

if you dont have trust, you dont have a marriage.

some other info,

do not trust the weather report, you will sweat your butt off.

do not wear rubber boots, you will slip and fall

sumac , with a little dew on their leaves look like christmas decorations on the ground

trust your instincts, or your dogs

MY HEAD IS SWIMMING.

GOODLUCK WITH THE TRAINING.

I ALSO LOVE THE SMELLS IN FALL. THE FALL FOLIAGE AND PLANTS. SMELL OF A CORNFIELD. ON A COOL NIGHT THE SMELL OF WOOD SMOKE FROM SOMEWHERE DISTANT. THE LITTLE SMELL OF GUN POWDER WHEN THE 22 CRACKS. MAYBE I SMELLED SOMETHING I SHOULD NOT OF WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. LOL.

I'm another smell person. They remind me of things years gone by. People, places, things!

However I don't know how far you are going to get with your pup training-on-a-leash. There are limitations on that. At some point you are going to have to let the boy go. You cant follow his every step. If you do you are going to get in trouble. If he turns out to be a go yonder dog. You will need to stay where you are till he trees, mark your position before you go and try to come back to where you left from. You will get lost following hunting dogs on foot in the woods if you are in the big woods. You don't HAVE TO have a Garmin. Learn to read the stars if you can see them. Pay attention to the lay of the land, highway sounds, the flow of water, tower lights, other things that are there for you to use. I can see from your posts that you are going to have to go it alone and these are tips for a loner hunter. I don't think you need to worry about the safety of your pup out there alone getting eaten up by a coon. It's not nearly as bad as you think

that is the first time i kept him on lead, only because of the neighbors cat issue. didnt make it as far as i originally wanted to go. i would have turned him out farther back away from the houses.
i had a problem the other day i could have shot my husband for. he had come in from archery and saw that i had skeet on a cable attached to the house. skeet started carrying on, and what do you think he did. he hid behind a bush and jumped out at him scaring the livin daylights out of him.
now,he has started barking at people that come over, and started being a little skittish at some things. so, needless to say, i have to get his confidence back to where i had it.
my husband is a jerk sometimes.
