Updates for DC 30 collar

Is there any updates you have to down load for the collars? I update my 220 but was wondering if a person needs to update the collars and how to do it.

Yes, there are updates for the collars also. To update the collar, you go on the garmin site and plug in your 220 to the computer and the collar updates through the handheld.

up date collar

turn gps on and collar on press dog=press enter=press menu=then go to upgrade dog unit your light on collar should light up an stay on till done up dating good luck

Well when I do all that it tells me. Please plug dog unit into PC.
When I plug it into the PC it says "READY TO COMMUNICATE WITH PC

BEGIN THE DOG UNIT SOFTWARE UPGRADE"
But there is no way to begin anything. If you push the enter button it cancels everything.
I just want to bounce it all off the wall at this point. lol

Oh and I put the trip and waypoint manager in and all it will do is add stuff to the maps. nothing about the dog collar on there.

Plug the Astro into the PC turn the Astor on and the collar you want to update. Then high lite that collar and click on menu then pick upgrade dog unit. It should then upgrade it. You have to do this for each collar that you have.

Nope I have tryed it with both collars and it just tell me the same thing like I am supose to start the dog unit software upgrade by pushing a button or something but if you push enter it cancels it.
Is there something the PC should be doing or place it should be?

You have to open the WebUpdater program on your PC and then when it oepns push the find device button. then it will walk you through the steps. Call me if I can help walk you through it. I just plugged mine in here at work to be sure on what to do.

Did you figure it out, Okie? I just updated one of my collars to version 3.6. Here's how it went.

Before you go to your webupdater, turn on the 220 and the collar that you wish to update. On the 220 select the collar that you want and press enter. Now press menu. Now select upgrade dog unit. Now with your 220 and collar on, plug in the 220 to the computer with the cord provided when you purchased your bundle. If you are using windows, in the bottom left hand corner of your screen there should be a circle with the windows icon in it. Click on that. Now go to your web updater. Click yes. And on the next box you click next. It should now show that you are wanting to upgrade your dc 30. Now you click next a few more times until it comes to a page that you have to click on "I agree" click that and then click next and it should start the update. this takes a few minutes. Make sure not to accidentally unplug the cord on the computer, this can be bad. When its done updating you click "finish" and there you have it. Good luck, man. It sounds like you are about as good with computers as I am. I wouldn't have known how to do it myself, but I called garmin last week and they walked me through it.

is this update for the dc-30 or the dc-40.the last time i checked garmins site the latest and greatest updates were for the dc-40 and would have no affect on the dc-30's

It's suppose to help it to not drop the collar as much and to pick it back up faster when it does. If you turn your collars on now once they are linked up the lights on them will double blink once the update is complete they will triple blink.

Thanks, now all I have to do is find the wire to hook up to the computer. i hope it is in the case.

i updated mine(think i done it right) it does triple blink but sometimes it blinks just a double blink.is this right

I updated mine and now it is droping collars a lot when they are close. Don't know what the problem is but it picks them right back up.

This is the first time I have updated my collar. I've updated the handheld in the past but never the collar. Took me about 45 minutes to figure everything out, but, it says it is updated to the 3.6 version and I have a triple blink. I'm hoping to cure some of the dropped signal I have been getting lately. I might have signal to 600 yds and then I might lose it at 250. Find out tonite....

Did anyone notice a decrease in their range after doing the 3.6 update?

i updated both mine now one dont pick up at all. garmin said triple blink is best reception with satelittes and double is not quite as good.

been on phone with them on collar that doesnt work said send it back and they would send me another one, but when i told them it had after market collar that warr was no good. collar worked fine till i updated it. so i guess that update just cost me $150.

well ive had mine over a year now and i never have updated the collars. I just recently updated the handheld, and it has better range than it did before. i got 1500+ yards the other night and before it was averaging 600-700 before i lose them. well since a few of yall updated your collars, do they get any better range? im happy with the way mine works now, i just dont wanna mess them up for no reason.
