They are just getting primed up here in Michigan. I would not compare early harvested coons to those that are actually prime.
It is my understanding that most buyers are taking a wait and see attitude about the demand of coon goods.

I agree, Thanksgiving is a good rule of thumb for hides to be prime......The problem with waiting till then is we may be burried under 3 feet of snow.
Thanksgiving has always been my fur the date. That storm last week put over a foot of snow on my favorite hunting area.
I talked to Melby in Willmar last week he was giveing 10 bucks for green hides and round 15 for put up coon.

Just curious what are you guys basing whether the skins are prime or not?
An animal doesn't need to be fully prime for the skin to sell well. Coons are tricky. Because the longer they den the more the quality of the pelt decreases. Early coon who have a good light leather when the skin is fleshed and dried typically are what sells well. At least in the auctions that I attend.
Muskrat and beaver absolutely don't prime until middle of the winter. Mink and otter start to singe by mid to late January.
Large coons here are now looking prime enough to qualify for top dollar.

I have been to the fur shed 3 or 4 times and I would say a vast majority of the coon are in the $8 range for an average. Tops are about $16-20 while yearlings are about $4. From what i have seen the buyers arent even interested in this years kits so just leave em for next year,
