Sc Right To Hunt And Fish Campaign~don't Forget To Vote!!!!

It took three years but we finally got the bill passed and will have a chance to make hunting and fishing in South Carolina a right, not just a priviledge. Don Cassidy serves on the advisory board for the Camo Coalition on our behalf. They are going to kick off an awareness campaign to try and get as many folks to vote for this amendment to our state constitution. This could have major impact on our state if we can get it passed. The main thing is it prevents the HSUS, PETA, etc from convincing a handful of senators to take away our hunting priviledges. As with everything these things take money. So if any club(s) or individual(s) are willing to donate to this cause please send your donation to the address for Heather at the bottom of this page. Thanks

As you know, we are in the process of organizing and launching a campaign for the upcoming Right to Hunt and Fish question that will be voted on this November in the general election. We have put together a small campaign committee for these next few months, and are making progress towards our first event next weekend at the Pee Dee Deer Classic.

Unfortunately, materials for campaigning are not free. For informational handouts and bumper stickers alone, we are looking at an expense of about $3000 (10,000 three-color bumper stickers, and 50,000 informational cards). We are asking that each member organization do their best to secure some amount of money to donate towards this campaign. However, we understand that some organizations are smaller and less equipped to donate than others. If you consider yourself a "smaller" organization, we are asking that you donate $100-200, and if you consider yourself a "larger" organization, please donate $300-400. Obviously, any amount that your organization can give will be very appreciated.

Please feel free to ask any questions by email or by calling Ben or I. Keep in mind that this is a very important campaign, not only for the present, but for the future of hunting and fishing in South Carolina.

This is what the ballot will look like -

"Must Article I of the Constitution of this State, relating to the declaration of rights under the state's Constitution, be amended by adding Section 25 so as to provide that hunting and fishing are valuable parts of the state's heritage, important for conservation, and a protected means of managing nonthreatened wildlife; to provide that the citizens of South Carolina shall have the right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife traditionally pursued, subject to laws and regulations promoting sound wildlife conservation and management as prescribed by the General Assembly; and to specify that this section must not be construed to abrogate any private property rights, existing state laws or regulations, or the state's sovereignty over its natural resources?"
The proposed amendment must be submitted to the qualified electors at the next general election for representatives. Ballots must be provided at the various voting precincts with the following words printed or written on the ballot:
"Yes []
No []
Those voting in favor of the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'Yes', and those voting against the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'No'."
