Thieves at the Ky state hunt

From what I saw, this was a very well organized hunt with a lot of good people both hosting it as well as attending.

Unfortunately the thieves were just as organized if not better than the people putting on the hunt. Does anyone know what dogs and equipment were taken for sure? What I was told by several people there was that there were 6 dogs , several lights, Garmins, shocking systems and even boots taken out of the boxes , one NT CH dog was taken out of the box after they broke the lock off of it. I believe they need several short ropes and tall trees over there when they round these people up, I just hope the dogs and equipment get found and returned to their owners as soon as possible.

Hopefully there won't be a repeat of this kind of thing tonight, but I think I'll pass and just hunt at home this evening. Best of Luck to everyone who goes and hunts tonight, maybe we'll even get to see the 1000 point mark broken.

I will agree, I work in a high school and the degree to which a lot of kids just don't care about anything or anybody is disappointing to say the least. Its sad to sit and think that the same kids will be out in the community raising kids of their own in a few years.

This that happened at the state hunt sounds like it was something that several people planned out before hand. Pitiful really for people like that to steal off hunters trying to enjoy a weekend of hunting.

My dad looked down at my keys a couple months back and asked "why so many keys", told him for all the locks on things to slow or deter thieves.......and being locked is still no gaurantee.

I've been hearing the same thing Perry, if it happened last year they should have been more prepared this year and had people roaming the grounds and watching out for the thieves, but from what I heard nobody stole any dogs last year at least.

They dont like to bring it up but there was a bad problem of things being stolen the last 2 or 3 years the PKC world hunt was held in Aurora.

guys just got back from hunt I heard about this while there .this is sad couple weeks ago at state youth hunt someone stole garmin collar off of dog tied to front porch .boys its gettin crazzy somethins gotta be done !the ky houndsmen does a great job guess were just gona have to start gaurding the grounds with guns or ball bats.

Who is "They"? PKC ran at least 3 full page notices in Prohound that a hound was stolen a couple years ago. They also pay good money to local sherriffs dept for extra on site police to be there. I don't think anyone is trying to "not bring it up".

Well I can tell you for a fact that tons more stuff then just a dog was taken the last two years the World was in Kentucky. Lights,trackers, boots, anything that wasnt bolted down. Also 5 or 6 threads was started on the PKC site about it and all of them were promptly deleted.

Dog boxes & hunting equipment have been going missing at big hunts like this long before this generation was old enough to have a truck to put it in. Bunch of hunting equipment started going missing around here. They even got brave enough to clean out dog box storage compartments while hunters would be gone from a tree. They got 2 50lb bags of Black Gold & the pads outta my dog box while I was at my dog's tree, less than 50yds from my truck!

All these hunters around here were accusing this kid & that kid cause young 'uns these days were too sorry to work & had to steal to buy their drugs.

Sherriff Deputy finally caught em. Ended up being 2 old dog traders, both of em in their mid-60's. Deputy was 3 days too late tho. They'd stock-piled most of it in an old barn until the big flea market down in Ripley, MS opened. They got caught on the Wed after flea Market, & they sold it all.

DONT FORGET WE GOT A BUNCH OF STUFF STOLEN FROM THE STD BARN AT SETW DAYS THIS YEAR. ONLY THING THEY DIDNT GET WAS OUR TRACKING COLLARS/BOX, AND DOGS AND LEADS WE HAD WITH US. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS TAKEN.

IF WE DO THE STUD BARN THIS YEAR, IT WILL ALL GET PACKED UP AND TAKEN TO THE HOTEL ROOM AND BROUGHT BACK AND RE-SET UP EVERY MORNING.

ALOT OF WORK, BUT WORTH IT TO MAKE SURE OUR STUFF IS TAKEN CARE OF!

i think maybe alot of people should start volunteering to patrol the grounds at a hunt. especially the ones waiting back at the wagon for the results. i would volunteer. bet if i found a thief, they would be in a monastery or convent for the rest of their lives. if you complain, volunteer to do what you say on here.

Well, that sounds like a good idea to me, I'll be happy to pull my shift out in the parking lot at any hunt I go to.
