I have a question

My dog is 2years 8 months old and trees coons thats not the problem the problem is when ever I walk up to the tree he gets off the trre to come see me (when im about 10-15ft away) and i always tell him to get on the tree then he will get back on it How do i fix that.

You will probably get plenty of advise on this one but I would tie him directly to the tree that he is treed on if possible. Another thing that was told to me many year ago was to tie the dog to the tree and go away to do whatever, smoke, have a cup of coffee, bs with friends...leave the dog tied to the tree for a longer period of time than usual. Then, in accordance with your state laws, knock the coon out to him. Hopefully that will work. In either case keep telling him to get back on the tree.

I have a female that has always done this, never able to stop her from coming back to meet us and take us right into the tree. She is 9 yrs. old and still does an awesome job on coon, but she would never win a nite hunt because of her coming back so far to meet us. At her age, I just let her hunt the way she wants to, just one of those quirks with her!

I have always hear for that and dogs not staying treed is to tie only them when you get to the tree knock out the coon and don't let them get any of it and keep doing that till she stays then let her get the coon byherself like I said I don't know but I have hear from several people it works.

Well that hasn't been hard to break for me.

Just take your leash and when it comes to you just lightly smack it in the face and tell it to get on the tree and then pet it when it is on the tree. The object isn't to hit the dog hard, just lightly smack it across the face/nose barely touching it. It stops them in their tracks and they turn around and go back to the tree. You don't want to hurt the dog, just let it know you don't want him to come off the tree. They are just excited to see you anyway.

It don't take too many times and they figgure it out.

Never worked for Autumn, she would still come to meet us, regardless of how many times she was tapped and shooed back to the tree. She is so excited that she just leaves, comes back and then makes a beeline to the tree again.

If its only 10 or 15 ft. and worles arround and goes right back then whats the probablem?Our trailor house is 16ft wide and thats nothing.

no big deal to me a know i got a tree dog. they know it to they just want to win at any cost i think the best dog should win thats why all hunts should use non hunting judges
