truck problem

2001 f150, had a tune up done, new plugs and new coil pack on clinder 3 and still runs bad, if it gets up to 45 mph and I let the rpm come down and then lighty accelerate the truck shakes, what could be wrong

truck

Is it misfiring at all?You said you had a tune up done. But one of the plugs could be bad.Or if it is a 4x4 you front drive shafts could be going bad.

more info, motor shake, check the air filter, wont let enough air thru to the injectors to run right. fuel filter, missin. go to a advanced auto or somewhere where they will put on computer for free and have it checked. could be a sensor.

tune up man possibly put plug wires on wrong also need to replace distibutor cap. Have seen hair line cracks in them do exactly what your talking about

Posted by RRbluehound on 08-16-2010 09:25 PM:

had a new air filter put in, it is a 5.4 motor each clinder has its own coil pack, dont think that the wiring could be wrong, It only shakes 40 to 45 mph, I can feel it through the pedal, I almost think that the coil pack that was replace is bad also, but I called the mechanic back to look at it again, just hope it isnt something expensive to fix

tires

rotate and balance tires can u feel in steering or just pedal

Posted by RRbluehound on 08-16-2010 09:57 PM:

tires should get balanced, but it only does it when rpms are low, and then accelerate and the motor doesnt feel as strong

I have the same truck and mine did the same it was the limited slip clutch in the rear end it's common in that year 97-03 have someone look under it when you put it in gear you will see the drive shaft will turn sevral turns before it grabs, rear end need rebuilt remeber tell the person looking not to lay under the truck they can see it without being under it lol. they realy aren't slipping like a tranny would they just have clutch chatter(vibration when deacceleration or vise versa)

COULD IT BE SOMETHING FUEL RELATED?

IS IT AN AUTOMATIC? COULD THE TRANNY BE SLIPPING? THAT COULD BE WHY IT GETS TO A CERTAIN SPEED/RPM IT SHUDDERS.

MAYBE YOUR TIMING IS OFF?

should throw the rpms way up if you are kicking it at 45
with no rear end.i agree with fuel filter and gas treatment
