The one we had was very territorial. He hated other male dogs, he attacked my 9 wk old bloodhound puppy and fractured his skull. Cost me a $900 vet bill. He also would fight with my old boxer all the time, for no reason would just come in the house run up to him and jump on him. I HATED THAT DOG!!(WIFES DOG) I eventually gave my bloodhound to a buddy of mine so he could run around on his farm and not be bothered by the bulldog, but when we had our son, I insisted that we get rid of the bulldog too. All in all, I'd never have another one. Probably would be a good pet if the dog lived in a house with no other pets or children.

bulls

Now see I have had nothing but a great time with the two bulls I have.

I have a male (daddy) who is the biggest baby in the world. His favirote thing to do is lay around in his baby pool. He has been with us since he was 8 wks old. He is now almost 2 yrs old. He is very well manored in the house. trained in all areas very easy(housetraining an tricks). He is by far not a fighter. he is scared of his own shadow. for example he is scared of a flash light. he will run an lay down an carry on at it as getting away from it. He plays all time everyday with all our other dogs we have a total of 2 more house dogs an 3 hounds outside. Then we have 3 young kids5,8,10. they love daddy the most out of all our dogs, our youngest will lay down on the floor with him an use him as a pillow. When people show up at the house he will bark an carry on like a man eater, ounce out the vehicle he is rubbing up on them to get some attention then we they leave tries to jump in with them to go for a ride.He has been tring to mother my now 5wk old bluetick puppies. he will get in with them lay down an some reason acts like there mother an cuddle like the mother does. lol hardly a killer.

My female bulldog (Vashti) is also almost 2. We have had her for about a yr now. She is also a big baby but with alot of courage compared to daddy. She would rather lay on your lap an sleep all day an let you pet her then anything. She runs all over the farm an gets into everyday mischief that dogs do.

But never has either of my dogs been mean to a child or a dog. Only thing I can say bad about them is they are very gassy dogs. Holly cow!!!! oh An I live on a farm that has free roaming chickens, peacocks, turkeys an 2 horses an they have never bothered them either.

I would recommened this breed any day to a family. They are very low exercise required animals, there lazy.

I love mine he is awesome! He is extremely friendly, loving, and desires to please. There are medical issues that are more commom in them than other breeds. You should do some research on these. As previously stated they are gassy, they drool, they shed, and their face wrinkles require cleaning. If you are preparred for that the go for it! Also mine is either sleeping or wide open!

I've always wanted one. I've had friends with them and they seem to be great dogs, with the exception of all the snoring, farting & etc.
I knew a guy who's wife bred and raised them for years. They were getting $1000-$1200 a pup, and gave it all up because of the cost and hassle of whelping them.
The English Bulldogs seemed to have a lot of health issues, especially if bought from a backyard breeder or puppy mill looking to make some money. The last thing I'd want is to spend $1000 on a puppy that is going to require constant vet bills.
Around here, the craze is the Olde English Bulldogs. They seemed to be a healthier breed and it some cases slightly more affordable but they are a bit larger and in some cases much much larger, and some of them don't appeal to me.
I've always wanted a bulldog, but I can't see spending that much money on a dog that would be nothing more than a pet.

I know others that have english bulldogs that have never had any temper problems with theres. Its just like any dog, some have tempers some dont. They are very fun dogs and yes they are gassy and some SNORE extremely loud. lol Ours had allergies and his skin broke out occasionally, if you take care of them and keep them clean, there shouldnt be too many outragous vet bills.

Bulldogs

There is no other dog like a Bulldog.

There are personality differences between different ones and some are more prone to health problems than others. Have to watch your breeding to get a good one and they are expensive.

If you are wanting a yard dog or one you can neglect and get away with it you don't want one. They are high maintenace, cant stand the heat well. Need to be kept as an inside dog but love to go outside when they want to. Have to clean the wrinkles and other body parts...under the tail and all.

We had one 'Theo' that we raised from a pup. He was aggressive toward all other dogs. He was the boss and he knew it. He loved people but was very protective of his "Momma" . Theo didn't have bad gas. Never messed up the floor in his life.

Both of us loved him dearly and he was treated as a child all his life. He was very smart. Definitely not a couch potato. He was very alert and active.

Had a heart attack and died about a year ago. We still havent gotten over it. He was almost nine.

Yes they are very gassy, snore. Mine spend alot of time outside but they have a baby pool that they love. That is because they do not always handle the heat. 75 degrees or higher is dangerous to them an they are watched when gets real hot out, but daddy just takes a flop in the pool for a min an right back to following us around the farm. Wrinkles are an issue at times, but long as you keep a eye on them clean them, no big deal. Far as private breeder versus the pet stores. Daddy came from a pet store has issues of a winter He gets sick every winter. Vashti on other hand came from a private breeder an have not had to take her to the vet the first time yet over a health issue. So I would recommend, private any day. They have more love an compassion for them where the pet stores just see dollar signs. Further more my opinion is I'd never sell my pups to a pet store to sit in a window until find a home just to sell them quicker. So the private breeders that sell to pup stores are no diff then the people who have puppy mills my opinion.

ALL IN ALL THE PLEASURES OUT WAY THE PROBLEMS THAT COMES FROM LIVING WITH A BULLDOG EVERY DAY MY OPINON!!!!!!!!WOULDN'T TRADE THEM FOR ANYTHING.

never had one, know nothing about them, other than they are about the ugliest dog I've ever seen! LOL! Just my opinion though. I know a lot of guys who love them and they are entitled to their opinion even if it is wrong. Just kidding.

Tim.....I had a male about 17 years ago. He was the coolest dog around (even wore sunglasses, lol). No problems with health, or temperment, very active and playful. He would entertain himself and you all day playing with a soccer ball, it was hilarious watching him, you would almost wet yourself laughing at him. Anyway he was your buddy, wanted to be with you everywhere, had to keep wrinkles clean, but other than that was a BLAST!! I have to agreed with Brogy, I too would like to get another one, but dang the price on these little guys is a little bit too much for this guy, for a pup to just be snoring and farting all the time. LOL. If you want one I would say go on and get one, you will have a fun with it. Alan Kalal
