Eddie has plenty of coons.I've hunted with 2 dogs that were started at his pen and they will run the crap out of a coon. When they tree they may look like a million next time they may locate and bark treed 3-4 times then find another track.I would make sure that Eddie goes to every tree that your pup trees on.

I stayed at Eddie's during the Grand American back in the 80's. Is he still down on the swamp?

Great guy and great trainner. The most honest man I have ever met. His trainning pen is amazing. I have had several dogs sent there and all came out almost ready for the hunts. All were treeing there own coon

My comments are not about Eddie. I don't know anything about him or his training pen. Comments are about coon pens in general. Yes, Make sure the trainer goes to every tree. A pup is asked to learn a lot in short order. Coon training is hard work, It can even get old training your own dogs for funsies. I can't imagine how old it must get to anybody that does it for a living. In my humble opinion, two overall types need to go in one. The first type is one that has shown signs of being outstanding and needs alot of experience and polishing. The second gets looked at cockeyed with the owner saying" Boy, You need some help". You can't expect miracles off that kind but the fact is the first type can also get ruint. When I was a pup I had three cousins about five years older that could do no wrong. Popular, you name it. I had another cousin just a year or two older than me that was somewhat lacking. So they stuffed a couple of bills in his pocket and dropped him off at the cathouse for the weekend. I asked if they were going to do that for me? By the time it was my turn they said it was a waste of money and I said I think I'm having too much fun on the outside doing the movie and popcorn thing. Don't know why he never could "git right" the ladies were, as ladies should be, tight lipped about it.
