What is a real coon dog?

A lot of people want hunt kc hunts because of the rules , and how people use them. I would like to take someone who don't coon hunt. And take them with some of this coon dogs that are winning big hunts, with some that don't. No one says a word during the hunt. The handlers handle their dog. And the person scores as they see it. I bet alot of winning dogs would lose, and losing dogs would win. What do you think?

I bet your wrong. If you think you can consistently win in PKC(even in the summer-time), with a slick-treeing idiot Id suggest you save up alot of money. Cause you wont be winning enough to cover ur entry fees

LOL...what a novel idea!

If a dog don't ever win I don't think the judge has very much to do with its' performance. However, I know what you are getting at, and I still don't think those barnyard dogs would shine any better or fair any better with a judge who don't know the rules. Actually it's(not know the rules) what causes most of the problems and message board complaints!

And the person scores the hunt as they see it. If they don't see a coon then they can't score it.

lol

I'm not cmplaining. I thank alot of dogs are getting promoted by handlers winning no matter what it takes. And the few hunts i've been the best dog didn't always win. I would like to have hunted with some of the old dogs on my papers, to see the real potintal my pups have got. But that is impossible.

A real coon dog depends on what the guy talking about them likes in his dogs. A bad dog and a good handler can win SOME hunts BUT NOT consistantly.
A good handler with a bad dog can eat you alive if you don't kow the rules though.
I would say there are just as good of dogs as the winners that never get put in hunts though. They don't have to be bad bred dogs to never get in comp. hunts.

I don't think a person that doesn't coon hunt would be much of a judge of the performace of the dogs. He obviously wouldn't have a clue.

This is all ready available, your dog will hunt by himself, no pressure. He will be scored on the coon he trees, plus, if it's at your local club, you can hunt in your own backyard. Hunt HTX. And you are correct, if you can't stand the heat, don't go in the kitchen. Tom

I agree !! The HTX was the most fair hunt option UKC could come up with !!! for the handler that don't like the Draw and cast hunting,,,
